Meet AJ Cocetti | Firefighter South Metro Fire Rescue Station 32/ Co-Owner, Firemen Movers Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with AJ Cocetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AJ, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business partner and I were seeking something to do alongside our professional firefighter jobs. Aidan, my partner, had previously worked for a firefighter-run moving company in Arizona. During a training session, we discussed business ideas, and Aidan suggested starting Firemen Movers Co. I immediately knew it was something I could support.
A few years ago, my parents had a terrible experience with a moving company, where their belongings were held ransom for a day until my dad paid the movers just to have a bed to sleep on. This experience made me realize the value of a trustworthy moving service.
Using off-duty firefighters and trusted friends seemed like the perfect solution. As a team accustomed to handling emergencies on people’s worst days, we knew we could offer reliable and compassionate moving services on their most stressful days

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My business partner, Aidan Cleere, and I are firefighters for South Metro Fire Rescue. I love my job as a firefighter because I get to serve the community I grew up in, following in the footsteps of my dad, who also worked for South Metro. Becoming a firefighter, especially at the department I always wanted to work for, was not easy and required a lot of hard work. Recently, I took the Engineer promotional exam and am now able to drive the fire trucks—something any firefighter will tell you is the best job in the department.
What sets us apart as a moving company is our dedication to trust. We wear the name “Firemen” with pride. Trust in firefighters wasn’t given overnight; it was earned through generations of firefighters before us. We want to honor that tradition of trust even as movers. We want the world to know that we care about you even after we leave youe house. We strive to ensure that your move goes smoothly and that you feel confident in what we do. Moving is one of the most stresful events in life, we are here to make sure that stress is just a little less.
A significant lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of paying my movers well. These guys are off duty, just trying to make an extra buck, so if I can provide them with a way to earn that dollar, it makes me happy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re asking me about the best way to soak up Colorado, buckle up! Start with a fishing trip in Steamboat, Eagle, or Dekers—trust me, the rivers here are like none other. And you haven’t truly experienced Colorado until you’ve caught a concert under the stars at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Pure magic!
For those who love a good hike, Chautauqua Park in Boulder is my go-to. After working up an appetite, you’ve got to try the burgers at Under the Sun or dive into some divine Neapolitan pizza at Pizzeria Alberico. As for drinks, nothing beats a cold one from Denver Beer Co.
Coffee aficionado? Swing by Mango Tree Coffee in Englewood for a brew that’ll perk you right up.
Winter changes the game completely. Crested Butte is my winter paradise for skiing—those slopes are epic! And the pizza at Steep and Deep? It’s the perfect slice for après-ski.
Colorado is a playground for the senses. There is so much to do and see a week just wouldnt be long enough.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to my wife Amanda, who has been the backbone of this entire venture. Without her support and hard work (even leading moves while I was hurt), we would have crumbled.
