We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Dvorak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what do you attribute your success to?
Mile High Young Professionals was created to provide young professionals with unique opportunities to grow professionally, create influence in the community, and foster friendships. One of the keys to MHYP’s success is that the organization offers a variety of different events that attract young professionals in all industries for a variety of different reasons. There is no one industry focus and it is not as “business forward” as many other groups. Some members join to meet new people, others are seeking job opportunities, others just want to be more involved in the community and others use the organization to gain leadership experience. It’s the variety that has helped the organization grow to what it is today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Alex Dvorak and I am the current President of Mile High Young Professionals (MHYP). It is a 100% volunteer-run organization that I have been involved with for 7 years. When I’m not volunteering with MHYP, I help business owners through the process of acquisition whether they are buying another business or selling their business. I joined MHYP because I wanted to get more involved in the community. I started as the committee chair of the sports committee, organizing intramural sports teams for the organization and then joined the board of directors 3 years ago, where I have served as treasurer, vice president, and now president. The biggest challenge MHYP has faced was definitely pivoting to virtual meetings during the pandemic. However, we were successful in continuing to provide social, educational, and fun events for our membership using different formats and this year we are bouncing back better than ever! I’m proud that MHYP was, and continues to be the largest young professional organization in Colorado!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of MHYP’s most fun events is our monthly social, which is on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7:30 at a different bar/restaurant around town each time. It’s a great place to meet new people, catch up with old friends, and hear about all of the other upcoming events! With a week in Denver, I think a few days should be spent up in the mountains either skiing or camping! In town, the River North Art District or the Highlands are great neighborhoods to grab a bite or a drink! During the spring and summer, a day at one of Denvers many city parks is always a day well spent. My favorite parks are Paco Sanchez park, and the confluence!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this article to Dan Kobler and Ira Johnson, who founded Mile High Young Professionals 11 years ago and have been with the organization every step of the way to make it what it is today.
