We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Friedman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what inspires you?
I am inspired by the everlasting pursuit of excellence. Whether it’s one of my clients crushing their competition, a distinct piece of art, or training myself. The constant learning and refining of a skillset are the highest pursuit we can dedicate ourselves to. However, a person chooses to express the pursuit is their own, and for me that comes in the form of training fitness or martial arts, creating art, or even brewing a cup of coffee.

Training offers a perfect stage for anyone to pursue excellence. Physical literacy is a skill that can do wonders for mental and physical health. I strive to offer inspiration and in turn find inspiration in the people who I train.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My venture into coaching has been a very rewarding experience. I started coaching on the heels of my college wrestling career where I learned of my passion for leading others and helping them to further their athletic potential or find health. I then pursued a Master’s Degree in coaching and biomechanics as well as internships with some of the highest-performing athletic organizations. These organizations include the UFC, University of Denver, University of Colorado Football Team, and currently at Landow Performance.

There were many lessons learned along the way, but a few stand out and, I feel, really distinguish my services. First and foremost the ability to gain results. To analyze movement, accurately plan training, and ultimately find more high-performing habits in life. Second is the adaptability and versatility my training programs provide, whether you are fresh off a break from fitness or pursuing a UFC title belt my system of training can meet you where you’re at and provide great training. I have coached everyone, moms who have never been in the gym, NFL players, UFC champions, middle school to high school athletes, and college athletes; These experiences allow for a seamless training process that, again provides results. Lastly, the psychological approach that I take. In a very realistic manner, I make a point to get my clients in a better and more beneficial headspace. Using my own trials and tribulations I grow with my clients to truly see that they are living better lives. Typically, it starts physically but often we get to a healthier and more robust lifestyle along the way.

I am proud of my professional and business accomplishments thus far, but I know that I am not there yet. I am continually striving to find better methods of training and to up my game so that I can ultimately up your game. Training is a passion in my life but the pursuit of better is what really inspires me. When I can help others pursue a better life that is where my real value shines through and I feel fulfilled.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the mountains surrounding Denver as much or more than the city! We would certainly go hiking, and some of my favorite spots are Dinosaur Ridge, Royal Arches (towards Boulder), or just Driving up I-70. Another cool venue to check out is the Art in the Rino District, and a stop by Meow Wolf! We would need to hit a few restaurants of course. Smok Barbecue is amazing, and the Avanti food market is great! I recently had a great experience at Quality Italian, a restaurant near the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly I must thank and give my wholehearted gratitude to my wife, Mary Friedman. She empowers me to chase my professional ambitions and live a life full of adventure.

I could not and would not be where I am today without my parents’ support. Brian and Sherry Friedman have given me each and every opportunity to pursue what I love and to them, I am endlessly grateful.

The sport of wrestling truly forged who I am today. I owe so much to the sport that teaches dedication, work ethic, and a fierce desire to win.

There have been many professional mentors along the way and I really am thankful to the Sports Performance staff at the University of Denver, the staff at the UFC Performance Institute, and my current team at Landow Performance and Factory X MMA and Muy Thai.
