We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Gove and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandra, what is the most important factor behind your success?
We believe that the personal connection and relationships with our customers is the most important factor behind the success of Hygge Life. We love talking about the ‘hygge’ lifestyle with everyone that walks through our shop doors as well as sharing the stories behind each product. Every pillow, candle, chair, etc. is created by someone’s hands and we feel that it is important to share the stories of the design and creation process to connect people with the pieces they love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We started Hygge Life in 2013 by traveling around Europe in our vintage ‘Hygge Bus’ selling mini Dutch pancakes. We had no business plan (we still don’t really). We believe that if you stay true to who you are, and what you are truly passionate about, the business will grow and success will come naturally.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Vail Valley is full of beautiful nature and fun activities. Here are some of my favorite mountain spots: – Cocktails at The Bread Bar in Silver Plume – Nordic Ski or snowshoe excursion at Ski Cooper – Ski the Minturn Mile followed by a Margarita at The Saloon – Hot Springs at Avalanche Ranch or Strawberry Springs – Cocktails & dinner at The Rose – Breakfast at Hovey & Harrison or Village Bagel – Ski Beaver Creek & après at the Ritz Carlton, Bachelor Gulch – Picnic and grill at Blue Sky Basin

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The support of our families, friends and fellow entrepreneurs has meant the world to us over the past several years. My mom was my biggest support in the early days. She would help me cart stuff to and from markets all over the US and was our first shop employee. She baked the Christmas cookies for our first shop holiday party and her garage was our shipping/receiving center for years. Our parents’ support and encouragement over the years has been invaluable! We have had the opportunity to do countless markets, pop ups and collaborative events alongside other amazing entrepreneurs from whom we have gained so much inspiration and knowledge. It has been so fun to see this community grow and blossom over the past few years. Special shout outs to Matt & Elise of Vela Apparel, Gemma of Wolf People, Katelyn of Manofatto, Kevin Grossi of The Regional, Bryan & Jess of The Rose and so many more.
