We had the good fortune of connecting with Jes Tilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jes, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think anyone who has ever worked with me would tell you – I am willing to do anything for my couples. Whether someone is planning a proposal or their wedding, they are planning what they hope will be one of the best days of their lives. For me, that’s what it all boils down to – I am helping plan, shape, and design someone else’s vision for what will be this incredible memory…of course I would do whatever it takes to make that happen. How many people get to make dreams come true as their job?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business (after years in the industry) in January of 2020. Let that sink in a bit. So no, not one second of getting my business to where it is today has been easy. But I tell ya’ – it sure has been an amazing year! I have had weddings in areas that are about to be evacuated or were evacuated from fires, I officiated a wedding or two to keep our guest counts as low as possible, I have cried, replanned, and cried some more and you know what? It was SO WORTH IT! I was able to help give so many couples their best day ever no matter what we were faced with and I have never been more proud. I wouldn’t feel this way or be where I am without such incredible clients. They have shown me the true meaning of a few things: Grace – despite everything, every one of my brides was so thankful and kind when most people would think they would have been at their worst. Trust – couples and their families leaned in in ways I never could have expected which made it all possible when the going got tough in planning through a pandemic. Love – at the end of the day my couples knew and focused on what was most important, each other.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Denver, but to be honest if I had a friend visiting I would be headed to the mountains as fast as possible! First stop The Bread Bar in Silverplume where we would plan our weekend road trip to get away from it all. My must stop spots: Stargazing in Strawberry Hot Springs – Steamboat Springs Mouthwatering Fried Chicken from The Slogar – Crested Butte Summit Mt. Bierstadt and still have time to hit up a brewery after at West Bound and Down – Idaho Springs Avoid the tourists and ski some laps sans crowds at Monarch – Salida
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
No question for who to shoutout to – I owe everything to Alex and Marie at Lionsgate Events Center. They believed in me before I did, taught me everything I know and continue to support me in so many ways!
