We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Redmond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I went to grad school for my Masters in Business but I never considered the option of working for myself when I was in school. I always figured I’d do what everyone else did; go to school, get a good corporate job and work my way up in a good company. However, I found that through my years of working in corporate life I was missing something. Even when I was excelling in a job, I was never fully satisfied. What I was missing was purpose. My real passion was in health and fitness so I decided to start training clients and posting fitness tips on social media as a hobby. I looked forward to getting “off the clock” to pursue my other interests in fitness. When covid hit and I lost my job, I decided that I was going to go “all in” on my fitness coaching business and help others achieve a better lifestyle. What was there to lose? I haven’t looked back since!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fitness has always been a part of my life. Through my experience working in corporate America I realized there was a gap in the fitness industry where you could either hire an in-person trainer, which is tough to maintain with a hectic schedule, or participate in a “cookie cutter” program that gets you fast results but is impossible to sustain long-term. I couldn’t find a program that was geared towards business professionals and busy women who want to create a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
Wanting to fill that gap, I created a program that educates, supports and guides women, helping them achieve their fitness goals without sacrificing their social life, their favorite foods or a ton of time. We help our clients achieve permanent results and a lifestyle that lasts forever. That’s what makes us different.
Creating my business has been incredibly rewarding but also challenging. The biggest lesson learned to this point is to surround yourself with people who have different perspectives and come from different walks of life. Seek opportunities to work with and learn from intelligent people so you never stop learning and, ultimately, growing.
I want the world to know that through Biz Fit, you will not only reach your fitness goals while living a hectic lifestyle, you will become the best version of yourself. The confidence you will build through your fitness journey will enhance all areas of your life from your career, to your social life, and beyond.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The options are endless when you live in such a beautiful city! Here are some top things I would do: – Hit a hike in Evergreen or Golden, which is close to the city.
– Head to Golden, CO. Go tubing down the river, stop at Golden City Brewery and get a bite to eat at Buffalo Rose!
– Spots to hit in the city: Gaylord street in Wash Park for food and drinks. Hang out in Sloan Lake area before heading to a Broncos game or hang out in MgGreggor square before a Rockies game!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my parents for instilling confidence in me from a young age. Thank you to my husband, Zach, who has been by my side from the start and is my biggest supporter. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mentors Eddie Zhang and Elijah Bowie. Last but not least, thank you to my Biz Fit team and community. I am inspired by the women I get to work with every single day.
