We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is staying true to who I am. In my experience, I resonate most with other creatives who show up as their authentic selves. Those who embrace their humor, are honest about their journey, and genuinely care about others are the ones I’m drawn to, and that’s the approach I take with my own brand. People want to have relationships with people that they know, like, and trust.

As both a communications manager and a dancer, I want people to feel comfortable around me and open to the value I can bring to their lives. I strive to be relatable so that others can apply what I share to their own experiences. I often explain that I am human, not perfect, but I am here to creatively express my strengths—and I encourage others to do the same.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Corporate Communications Manager by day and a dancer/dancer instructor by night. With nearly 22 years of classical dance training, my passion for both fields has driven me to pursue them into my adulthood.

I’d like to think having a Masters and Bachelors degree in Communications, coupled with being blessed with the ability to express myself through the art of dance makes me stand out. I can be professional from 8-5, and I can be a creative from 5-9.
So much of my day job requires lots of public speaking and presenting in front of people. Those skills translate in the dance studio because it gives me the confidence to not only perform to the best of my ability in front of others, but enables me to inspire confidence in my students.

I got to where I am professionally because it was instilled in me from a very young age that as a Latina woman in this society, it’s important to create a solid foundation for myself personally and professionally to live comfortably. So, with lots of hours of hard work and sacrificing fun time to ensure that I built that for myself, I ended up here today! And sometimes, I don’t even think of the work I put into my craft as a sacrifice. Dance and Communications are two huge passions of mine. So why not make a living by doing what I love?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned throughout my journey is that no one is going to make things happen for you, and you have to have a core, genuine belief that you are capable. YOU have to put in the work to achieve the success you want in life. Of course, it takes a village. I believe it’s important to surround yourself with those that encourage you and support you, but no one is going to do the work for you.

On a personal note, I grew up in a school environment where I was relentlessly bullied (literally been called every name in the book and my house had been egged more times than I can remember) and it completely shot my self-esteem in my formative years. As I started to become the young professional that I wanted to be AND with therapy, I’ve been able to work through the insecurities that came from those bullies. It’s taken many years and lots of internal work. Now, I truly feel like a confident woman, and I like to project that confidence in my stage presence both at corporate, and at dance. My goal when people interact with me or take my classes is to remind people that while there’s a lot of bad in this world, there are even more great people, and they should be reminded of that. I want people to walk away from time with me with CONFIDENCE – Confidence in themselves and what they’re capable of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a big mountain girl here in Colorado! In a perfect world when I have a friend visiting, I take them to on a hike anywhere within 1-2 hours. So Rocky Mountain National Park, Roxborough State Park, or Morrison are always my go to’s for minimum driving, but maximum views! Then we’d go get a burger at Bad Daddies or an amazing Mexican meal at Adelita’s on Broadway. I love taking friends or family on a city tour to see Union Station, the Dairy Block, driving to see the big blue Bear at the convention center, and then a little stroll at Washington Park. Then, I’d love to end the day dancing at Collaboratory Complex, the hottest dance studio in Denver!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my incredible village of family and friends who have supported me unconditionally. It has truly taken a village—my Mom, Dad, Tia, brother, and all of my family friends—to help me achieve the success I have at just 26 years old. Their encouragement has pushed me to embrace new opportunities and education, allowing me to become the best version of myself. I am forever grateful for their support.
