We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Abouzalam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ali, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The mission here at Bee-Nails is to help our customer “Bee Their Best”. Cannabis is helping millions of people around the world live their best life whether that’s to battler cancer, parkinsons, epilepsy, arthritis, chronic pain, chronic depression, anxiety and more. We are proud to position ourselves as a lifestyle brand that enables all cannabis consumers to learn, experience, and consume cannabis in a healthy and efficient manner. Bee-Nails empowers cannabis consumers to “Bee Your Best.” We aim to continually move customers closer to fulfilling their unique purpose by providing excellent high quality vaporizers and tools, relevant education, and inspirational events that help them thrive and positively impact the communities where they live and work. We make quarterly donations to local non-profits like trees, water, people, Colorado BeeKeepers foundation, the Fort Collins Food Bank and more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a passion for martial arts. I love a quote that I got from the movie Chick Fight that goes “If you learn to fight and never give up in the ring, then you will beat the shit out of life.” As silly as it is, it is actually very true. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic and determination. As you can imagine, being an mma fighter takes extreme physical and mental conditioning. You train to meet another highly skilled human being in a locked cage and fight until knockout, submission, or until the three rounds are over with just 4oz gloves and a mouthpiece. Training to fight mma takes a lot of commitment and the learning and synergizing of multiple martial arts to ensure you are prepared for a fight whether it stays with striking on the feet or goes to grappling on the ground. MMA has also give me a community of hard working individuals to grow with and has taught me so much about hard work and dedication. It’s also a way to release stress and anxiety and gets me in “the zone”. The lessons I have learned from MMA is that if I can take the pressure of fighting then I can take the pressure of anything in business. I want the world to know that we are all fighters in one way or another and that it’s important to cultivate a close community around you and to choose the things in life that are worth fighting for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If it was summer time, I would definitely start with some hiking and maybe some swimming around horsetooth reservoir. It is so beautiful and has an incredible energy. Maybe we would hit a run as well to burn some calories off before hitting the amazing restaurants and breweries in Old Town. I love all of the patio sitting and would take my friend to Austins or Coopersmiths for nice outdoor lunch before hopping over to Odells or New Belgium for some beers. We would also go check out the new comedy club and eat at some of my favorite restaurants in town like Youngs Chinese and Bawarchi. Before he left I would also make sure to take him to see the views and Jazz at the sunset lounge and the awesome vibe at Social.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to Jerrod Hardy. Jerrod has been a coach to me in business and in MMA. He is the owner of Trials MMA and also my co-host for our podcast, The On Purpose Podcast. Together, we empower ourselves and others to live lives with more passion and purpose. Jerrod is a father, coach, retired police officer, entrepreneur, author, podcaster, and so much more. He is constantly uplifting those around him and has made incredible contributions to our community here in Fort Collins, CO. I would not be the man I am today if Jerrod was not in my life.
