We had the good fortune of connecting with Allegra Wermuth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allegra, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am a professional violinist and have been working with tweens, teens and young adults as a violin teacher and mentor for over 30 years. Very often, the lessons are very much not be about the music, they are about what is going on in their lives, because whatever drama, excitement, emotions of all kinds would directly affect the quality of the lesson and the quality of the playing. Therefore, many of my students consider their lessons “therapy”. Besides having my own teenager at home, I have seen how much the pandemic has affected the young people in our lives and knew that I needed to work to reach a larger community, not just through music lessons. I knew I had to do more, so I googled various topics such as high school counselor, coach, therapist and came across a program to become certified as a teen life coach. I knew that this was the right path for me, as I wanted something I could achieve somewhat quickly and already had experience working with the demographic. I officially became certified as a Teen Life Coach in December 2023.

As I was working towards certification, I knew I wanted to incorporate movement, mainly yoga and breathwork into my coaching practice as I am a long time yoga practitioner and 500hr certified yoga teacher. Once I decided to call myself the Embodied Teen Life Coach, everything began to fall into place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I wear many hats, so to speak. I am a single mom, teen life coach, teacher of yoga and violin, and as I mentioned earlier, a professional violinist. As a musician, I get to experience life through a language that doesn’t need words. Music holds so much more, especially colors and emotions. When playing a symphony, you can often experience the gamut of emotions, which can leave you elated, exhausted and everything in between. Music and dance are intertwined as we use our bodies and express our art through embodiment. I danced a lot growing up, but in my adult years I turned to yoga which became such a healing art for me. Through music, movement and many life experiences, I am able to offer a rich, all-encompassing perspective to the students I teach and coach, whether they are my violin students, yoga students or coaching clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gosh, so many options! Being from Golden, we would spend a day leisurely walking around town. We would stop by Humble House for a Matcha Latte before heading to my favorite spot along Clear Creek near the library. It is a spot where I love to sit and meditate while the water flows and take in the beautiful nature around me. A nice long walk would definitely be in the plan, or we could hike up South Table Mountain. From the top, we’d be able to see the roof of my house! Sherpa House for lunch or dinner, for sure! Another non-negotiable would be to visit Red Rocks Amphitheatre, either for a hike or maybe attend a concert. I am very fortunate to call Red Rocks my summer “office” as the Colorado Symphony (of which I am Assistant Principal Second Violin) performs there numerous times each summer. So I guess a concert with the Symphony as well! I’d have a hard time deciding between taking them to Sushi Den, Bistro Vendome, or anywhere in RiNo for dinner in Denver. We might hit the Denver Art Museum or Meow Wolf as well.

On another day, we would drive up to Boulder for the day, walk around Pearl Street Mall, and eat at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. Perhaps a visit to Chautauqua Park if the weather was good.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to all the tweens, teens and young adults that I have worked with in the last 30 years. They have been some of my greatest teachers in life and I feel honored to be given the opportunity to be of service to this community.
