We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Easterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, what do you attribute your success to?
I think there’s a couple of factors behind the success of my business and brand. One would be hard work. There’s no way around it. If you want it, you put in the work. Period. You do what it takes to make it, even when it’s hard. Second, and probably most important, would be the people I work with. My clients, my colleagues. When people have an experience with you, good or bad, they talk. When you take time to love and care for people, and deliver good product, they remember that and they tell their friends. I wouldn’t be where I am today without both hard work and the people I’ve worked with. They’re the driving force behind everything I do.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m am a Wedding Photographer based in Colorado Springs, CO. I think I’m most proud of the rapport I’ve built in my 11 years in the business with my clients and colleagues within the industry. They are how I’ve gotten to where I’m at all these years later. Being in business for yourself is not an easy thing. You are the CEO, CFO, HR Department…. you are literally everything for your own business. It’s hard and lonely at times. It takes a lot of hard work, a lot of learning, a lot of making mistakes. I think people should know that all of that is okay. It’s okay to fail, it’s okay to get back up and try another way. You learn a lot from those mistakes. How you would handle that type of situation the next time. I’ve made many mistakes over the years, but I think the most important thing is to get back up and try again. Make the needed changes, take it as a learning experience and move forward. I think another important, basic factor to remember when you’re running a business is people. So much of what I do centers around my clients…. how can I make their interactions with me the best experience for them? I think there’s a beautiful balance between running a business, but also caring for the people you work with. People can sense when you really care about them, and I think that makes all the difference.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First off I LOVE my city. We have some of the most gorgeous outdoor locations there are, and while I’m not necessarily and “outdoorsy” type of girl, Colorado Springs definitely lends itself to some beautiful outdoor activities. Some of my favorite restaurants are at the base of the mountains in Manitou Springs & Downtown Colorado Springs. Those who know me know that I do, however, enjoy some good shopping. So I’m always heading to Denver for that!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who deserve so much credit in my story! I wouldn’t be here without the support of my family, my clients, my second photographers, colleagues and peers in the wedding industry. It takes a village to run your own small business, and I definitely couldn’t do it without these people!
