We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own business has always been rooted in taking charge of my own destiny. Additionally, my sights have always been set on establishing a career that is rooted in providing tremendous value to others. I am a college educated woman and, yet, I was finding myself in careers that were either unfulfilling or had limited potential for growth. As I moved through a physique transformation myself in 2015 I had perpetual thoughts of helping others do the same. The impact it had on my life was life-changing and I knew that other women needed in on this lifestyle. As other women started to reach out to me for help along their health journey, I knew this was my chance to put something into motion to start taking charge of my own destiny. Additionally, it was the perfect opportunity to solve problems, serve people, and provide tremendous life-changing value to others.

What should our readers know about your business?
It all started with flipping some big tractor tires in my back yard. I had personally been on a transformative journey that started with a foundation of fitness and nutrition changes in my life. From there, the trajectory of my whole life changed. I started thinking differently and setting new goals for myself inside and outside of the gym. I started to think pretty big things were possible for me in my life.

I like to say that my business started literally from the ground up because it started in my own back yard on the dirt and grass. I had gotten two tires to use for my own fitness purposes. That expanded to several tractor tires in the winter of 2018. In the springtime I cleaned them up and invited some friends over to flip them for the length of my yard. Quickly I started brainstorming about different exercises we could be doing with the tires. I made a quick promo video with some of my friends and scheduled my first ‘Tire Trained’ class on May 15, 2018. There were 8 people in attendance.

Beyond the first day it only got better. The demand grew and my investment into the program grew right with it. I continued to respond to the demand and in November 2018 I moved my classes into the church basement next door. My optimism for the response to my classes being in this space was not very high. I quickly learned that I had every reason to maintain optimism because people kept showing up. I held a New Years kickoff workout on January 1, 2019 and the class filled up and went on a waitlist. It was the first of many times my classes would be on a waiting list.

Fast forward to March 2019 I moved into my very first studio space of my own. This allowed me to schedule classes when I wanted and I immediately doubled the class offerings. I was in this studio space for nine months until we outgrew that space. There were 18 classes offered per week at this time and all of them were full and on a waiting list. The demand was crazy and, as always, I continued to respond to the demand. On January 1, 2020 I moved into a brand new studio space and multiplied class offerings once again. By this time I had a staff of coaches to help me run classes from 5:00am to 7:00pm. Before Covid hit we were running 8 classes per day Monday-Thursday and 3-4 classes Friday-Sunday. Covid hit and I had to close the doors to the studio on March 17, 2020. This was one of the most challenging times for my business. With 384 members and not being allowed to hold classes, I had to do something. Immediately I moved to an online model and programmed workouts for my entire member base to do from home. This took a lot of creativity, discipline, and consistency. Fortunately I only lost 100 members during Covid and a great deal of people continued to stick with Tire Trained and the workouts provided. I was able to open the doors back up in May 2020 and I learned how to navigate a new normal with reduced capacity, enhanced sanitation standards, and an entire community with heightened anxiety about the unknowns of Covid.

Between May 2020 and November 2022 classes proceeded like normal and I even expanded to a second studio space right next door. This timeframe was the most challenging for me and my business. Things never really picked back up like they did before Covid impacted the country. I found myself managing people moreso than pouring into my craft. My passion lies in helping other transform their bodies and, therefore, their lives. In November 2022 I decided to change the business model, close down my second studio space, and implement a more structured program called T3. T3 stands for Tire Trained Transformation and it is the thing I am most proud of to date with Tire Trained.

I took the T3 program and implemented everything I had learned along the business journey since beginning in 2018. I took my craft back and poured myself into the transformation process with my clients in the T3 program. I became the trainer that I wanted to be and I continue to grow in that role each day. Now, I run two classes a day at 5am and 6am Monday-Friday on a 10-week rotation. The program focuses on five pillars – training, nutrition, daily checklist, mindset, and community. These five things truly encompass an entire lifestyle transformation and it all starts with fitness and nutrition. I believe if you can invest in yourself through these things, you can change your entire lifestyle around you in and out of the gym.

All along my business journey I have been challenged to my core. From structuring programming, to finding my appropriate target audience, and learning the financial needs and direction of the business, it has all been one giant learning process. I had no intention to set out on an entrepreneurial journey but I am so glad and grateful that I did. It required me to get way out of my comfort zone and learn things, and get really good at things, that I had never done before. With long-term vision, perseverance, discipline, and a great deal of tenacity I have been able to build and grow something that only I could create. I am proud of this small business that started with dirt and grass and I want other people to know, especially women, that you can succeed with your little idea. Anyone can succeed if they have the passion, drive, determination, and grit to simply TRY. And keep trying. I know I will keep trying, evolving, and growing until I reach every new height that I know I am capable of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Is this in Denver or in my local community because I could answer for both.

If my best friend was visiting my area and wanted to show them the best time ever I would start with a visit to downtown Marion. It is a small but vibrant and growing community space with a lot of shopping, eating and drinking options. We would start with coffee and breakfast at Uptown Coffee and then move on to some shopping at the local shops in Marion. Then we would move on to lunch at either Goldfinch or Hip-Stir. Both places have really good food and a variety of drink options. I do not drink alcohol and I love that these places both offer non-alcoholic options. Hopefully Marion would have some sort of community event going on that we could enjoy together. An example is the Chocolate Walk that Marion hosts every year. Patrons visit local businesses and they offer some sort of chocolate option and the opportunity for people to shop and support the local businesses.

If my best friend was visiting Denver with me I would certainly check out some hiking during the day with her. I have enjoyed the Manitou Incline hike in the past and would definitely do it again. From there we would get ready and go to Larimer Square. We would have dinner at Ocean Prime or another phenomenal restaurant in this area. I love the outdoor seating so hopefully it would be in the warmer months so we could enjoy that. After that we would get a ride around the area from one of the bicycle rickshaws in the area. I have had such a great experience with this in the past as the driver had a great deal of knowledge on the local spots to visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shout out could go to SO MANY people. I will start with some people I literally had in my ears back in 2016 as I was pondering starting my own entrepreneurship journey. Gary Vaynerchuk, Andy Frisella, Dave Ramsey, and Kate Wolff are four people I listened to via podcast that year. Gary V is a very successful businessman that had a lot of business advice that reminded me that I could do anything I set my mind to. He often talks about it never being too late to start something you are passionate about. He also shares a lot about his humble beginnings and is a great source of inspiration to persevere no matter what. Andy Frisella is a highly successful businessman in the fitness industry who has shared a ton of valuable advice. He also had some humble beginnings and has worked his way to the level he is at through a lot of hard work, mistakes, and dedication. His story and the advice he put out is sort of a ‘tough love’ approach that I really soaked in. Dave Ramsey is another source of inspiration for me as I listened to his podcast everyday. I loved listening to his advice about finances. Many conversations led to talk about starting businesses and through those conversations came a lot of advice about ‘just going for it’! He reminded me to take the leap no matter how scared I was to do so but with a smart and calculated approach. Kate Wolff is a comedian with a podcast that centers on both comedy and spirituality. I was really inspired by Kate as she has walked her own path in her career. Her podcast shared her struggles, successes, and she was really great at sharing her spiritual journey. She made me laugh and she inpired me to dig deeper within myself to become a more awakened individual.

Beyond these individuals I have to give a major shoutout to anyone who has ever supported or patronized by business over the years. Every year has brought a new level for me. Without the people willing to give me a chance and trust in my services I would not be where I am today. These people have helped me learn, grow, and figure it out along the way. The grace, patience, and support of the community around me is something I will be forever grateful for.
