We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Pamplin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My husband and I have been in the restaurant business for over 27 years. We worked together at 3 different restaurants, and we also worked at separate restaurants throughout the years. We both have served, bartended, managed and I was a general manager for over 5 years. We always wanted to own our own business. I was the manager of Revival Brews for 2 years, when the owners started talking to us about buying half or all of Revival Brews one day. We were excited for the opportunity to buy half of established and growing restaurant. We discussed it for a few weeks, and we decided to go for it. In July 2022 we bought one partner out and In December 2023 we bought our other partner out. Now Kevin and I are the only owners of Revival Brews.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Revival Brews was started in 2014. It is a restaurant bar focused on craft local Colorado beers and spirits. We have all fresh food and house made sauces. We went to Revival Brews back around the time it opened. We loved the food, beer and vibe of the restaurant. A couple years later my husband became disc golf buddies with one of the owners. I ended up working at Revival Brews in 2020 as a manager. I loved working at Revival and in 2022 we started talking about possibly buying the restaurant. In July 2022 we bought one partner out. The other partner our friend decided he too wanted to sell, so we bought him out in 2023. Kevin and I have been excited and love owning Revival Brews. We love our staff, customers, food, drinks and the vibe. We are family and dog friendly, and we enjoy seeing both. I love our community. I love working with and supporting the community, Colorado breweries and local artists. 99% of our beer comes from Colorado small craft breweries. Our food is so fresh and amazing. Our cocktails are top self and always changing also amazing. Our customers come in with their families on a regular basis. I love seeing them all. Our staff are family, and they work together as a team. I love and am extremely proud of our restaurant. I am proud of our staff. It was not so easy at the beginning. We felt overwhelmed and stressed out at times. Once we realized we have and can handle anything that comes our way we started to realize we were stressing for no reason, and we got this. We (my husband Kevin and I) also have each other for help and an amazing staff that we have built in the last 2 and 1/2 years. I make lists to make my life easier. I write everything down, so I won’t forget. Even if it is something I do weekly, I write it down and check it off once it is done. I have found ways to take it a day at a time. I try to stay in the moment. Have compassion and love. I have also learned to except help because you can’t always take everything on yourself. We have gotten to a point our staff can run the restaurant and we can take days off and even a vacation. We feel so lucky, blessed and thankful everyday!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course, I would definitely bring them to Revival Brews and do it up and treat them well. I would also take them to a Red Rocks show. To The Fort restaurant in Morrison (Kevin use to work there prior to owning Revival Brews). I would take them on local Indian Hills, Evergreen hiking trails and Evergreen Lake. I would take them to small mountain towns and shop, eat and support the communities. To the local Theater to see a live performance. Definitely go by a brewery or two. Up to Blackhawk to show them the cool mountain casino town. Maybe a sports game or a trip down to Denver. Chatfield lake in the summer. for sure.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have always worked at family-owned restaurants. I have to different owners Jane Secchi and Paul George that I looked up to and I have learned a lot from. They were both hands on owners and greeted every customer and treated their staff well. Paul taught me how to be a good general manager and how to run a restaurant/ bar. The number one person who has supported me, encouraged me, loved me, and helped me get to where I am today is my husband and partner Kevin Pamplin.
