We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Hicks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, how do you think about risk?
I believe all successful people have taken and continue to take risks, to lead them to where they are in life. For it’s the lessons we take away and the people we may encounter, from taking those risks, that can lead to opportunities we never envisioned. When we are willing to jump into the unknown, we are telling the universe that we are ready and open for our path to be revealed to us. For example, had I never left behind my familiar, secure midwest life and moved to Colorado, I may have never discovered what truly sparks JOY in me… freedom and outdoor adventure. Had I let fear get in the way, I may have never gotten involved in the remarkable cannabis scene. Had I not put myself out there, I may have never connected with some of the people who led me to where I’m at today. Had I never taken a blind chance in the industry of network marketing, I may have never broken free from corporate, and conformity, which was holding me back from my true potential. Taking chances has allowed me to grow into an entrepreneur, build my own evolving brand and design a life I’m passionate to LIVE. In turn, I’ve been able to impact and inspire many others to do the same, which has been the most amazing ripple effect! Remember, some of your greatest accomplishments can come from taking risks. Are you willing to find out?

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My 2 year young business, which I am super passionate about, is One Plant. One Love., cannabis awareness, CBD sales/consultation and hemp farming. I believe what sets me apart is the fact that I fall in the “cannabis” category. While cannabis is becoming more widely accepted, there are still stereotypes and stigmas that can create barriers. Because my mission is to normalize this plant and help more people feel their best, mentally and physically, it’s important for me to lead with education. This is what I believe sets me apart. I am told frequently, by my peers and clients, that they appreciate the education, guidance and general awareness I offer. I allow people to feel comfortable asking the questions and empower them to advocate for their own health and wellness. It can be a struggle to promote the necessity and health benefits of CBD with all the poor quality, unregulated and gimmeky products coming to market. Some people give up too soon or never have proper guidance from the beginning, which can unfortunately deter them from fully experiencing the necessity of cannabinoids for our body. I believe I’ve gotten to where I am today by confidently stepping up to advocate and BE A VOICE for the plant. I’m big on forming relationships and building good rapport/trust. By doing so, hundreds of others, around the globe, have felt compelled to join me on this mission. Together, we are breaking stigmas, helping thousands and making a positive impact! In the entrepreneur world, it’s vital to never stop learning and feeding your mind and to be a servant leader along the way. I feel that the most successful business owners are those who are willing to grow, adapt, collaborate, evolve and never quit. When you lead with passion and genuine intent, stay true to yourself and your mission, work hard and BELIEVE, you are sure to overcome and learn from any challenges that come your way. This has been true for me. Every step of the journey is necessary, so embrace it and keep going!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Breakfast at Country Road Cafe, in Kittredge, CO then hit up Evergreen Lake and Creekside Winery. Live music and brews at New Terrain brewery, in Golden, CO, base of North Table Mtn. (great for hiking & biking). OMC Dispensary. Skiing at Loveland Ski Area, followed by a private tub at Indian Hot Springs, in Idaho, Springs and dinner at Westbound & Down. Scenic drive up Mt. Evans. Camping/Hiking in BuenaVista area, Cottonwood Pass.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout another incredible woman in the cannabis space, Sara Robinson of Hempy Llama Tea. She and I share a mutual passion for “plant medicine”, which is how we met. Not long after, I watched her and her husband’s beautiful vision come to life! Over the past year they have been building their Artisan tea business, entirely from the ground up, and have been sharing a more powerful and health conscious way of consuming the benefits of hemp. Everyone deserves a cup of calm in their life! Check them out… hempyllamatea.com
