Meet Amy Raven

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Raven and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, why did you pursue a creative career?
One of the reasons I pursued an artistic career is because as a child I loved photography and always had one of those disposable cameras with me taking photos of many different things such as friends and places visited. Then In high school I was a yearbook photographer taking photos of the dance team and school parades. As an adult I started my business in Germany taking photos of friends and their families along with my own children and that career choice followed me through Texas, Maui and now Colorado. I love capturing those special moments that spark your souls fire.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Family photography is what I chose to pursue not only because families need photos but because they are fun, creative, and you get to meet so many amazing people. I think the main thing that sets me apart from others is the love of letting little ones be them selves during sessions and just capturing them being who they want to be instead of strict posing. I got to where I am today by being consistent, lots of advertising, by constant learning of new editing styles and by having the best support system. It was not always easy but it’s definitely worth the work to be able to give people memories to look back on. Something I’ve learned along the way is that not everyone will love their photos and to not beat yourself up over it.
What I would want the world to know about my brand and story is that my brand is all about sparking your souls fire and having all of those special moments and memories to show your children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren. My story started as a child with a love for cameras and has turned in to a career that I am passionate about, I even bring my own children along to sessions to help my other kids more comfortable and show that kids will be kids and that’s perfectly okay with me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show off the beauty of Colorado by taking them into the mountains to Evergreen lake for a walk or ice skating then stop at my favorite restaurant Casa tequilas evergreen for some fantastic fajitas, then head back down and stop at some parks such as south valley park for some hiking. Why not stop at the museum of nature and science one day and my favorite zoo in Colorado Springs the Cheyanne mountain zoo. Through out the week we would check out a few restaurants and just go exploring so they can see more of the Denver area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My support system is made up of multiple people including my parents, my children, my Husband Jordy and friend Chris. They have all encouraged me and pushed me to show of my talents and passion for photography
