We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Archuleta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Being extremely organized, ambitious, dedicated, and passionate about my business has really helped me become successful. Waking up early, staying up late, and using my “free time” to educate myself and practice new trends. Having that “go getter” mentality and really just believing in myself. My business runs my life and I work everyday to ensure that I get to the level of success I want to be at.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what really sets me apart from others is that this isn’t just a job to me. This is my life and my passion. I like to be authentic and be myself. I take pride in everything I do and try and look at any challenges from all perspectives and be understanding. Also, the little things matter and make such a huge difference. Don’t be afraid to talk to people. I feel like a lot of the time, we are scared to talk to others in fear of rejection. We need to get over that because so many beautiful things can happen and you never know who you’re going to meet and how it can change your life. I am proud of myself because recently, I got published in two magazines. One as a model and the other as a makeup artist and that has really pushed me to go harder so that this can become a normal thing for me. Also, I am so excited because I received a response from a celebrity who I have been wanting to work with forever and so it’s things like that really keep me going.
I got where I am today by being dedicated and consistent. Living and breathing the work I do. It is NOT easy. There are many times where I cry and think to myself “life would be easier if I wasn’t doing this on top on my 9-5” but the love and passion for what I do keeps me going. It takes a lot of time and a lot of lessons. I’m still not where I want to ultimately be. A lot of the times I’m hard on myself if something doesn’t come out the way I imagined. However, you cannot get down on yourself or give up. You need to take your losses as a lesson and sit down with yourself and realize you’re not the best at everything. Everything isn’t going to come out exactly the way you or the client wanted. What matters is how you move going forward. Now you know what you would do differently and can apply that to the next project. Growth is so important and something you should not be afraid of.
I want the world to know that I’m just a girl from the small town of Espanola who is super passionate about the work she does and is trying her best to make her dreams come true.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m currently living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I love Santa Fe. There is so much culture here and don’t even get me started on the food. The food is to die for! For starters, I would take my bestie to the Plaza, find a nice rooftop bar, probably Coyote Cantina or Thunderbird. Then, we would go walk around. There are so many little shops here with amazing things. No matter what store you’re going into, you will always find something unique and different. I would also take them to Meow Wolf. Meow Wolf is an interactive art experience. It’s like falling down the rabbit hole and ending up in a totally different world. I would also take them to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. This is one of my favorite places in the world. It’s where I go to relax and recharge. We would get a massage and just enjoy the hot springs. For food, we would definitely go to Dinner for Two for happy hour. The drinks they have there are so good! We would move on to Rio Chama for dinner. Some of my other go-to food spots are Tomasitas, Atrisco, Sanchez Tacos, Fusion Tacos, and Kai’s Sushi.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so many people who constantly show love and support for my business. For starters, my mom, she has been my number one fan since I decided to start this journey. My whole family and close friends. They have been there since day one and have always shown so much love and support for me. They’re always pushing me to do my best and believe in me everyday. I love them so much. My favorite photographers, Shan Baca (@enraptureimages) and Jennifer Chavez (@jnouvelphotographyboudoir), they are ALWAYS including me in their projects and referring clients to me, and I’m forever grateful to have them in my life. I am so lucky to have the support system I do. This would not be as possible without them.
