We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Stariha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work life balance in the beginning was not fully balanced. I was working between 60 to 70 hours a week, and it just wasn’t sustainable. Since then, I had to learn that days off, are very important for the body and mind. I have restructured when my days off will be while also making sure that the things that need to be done before those days off, are finished.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I was today, by a lot of hard work, and also a lot of learning. I taught myself how to do many things in order to be a well-rounded marketer.
It wasn’t always easy, but nothing in life is ever easy. Sometimes, it was a lot of long nights, a lot of research, and a lot of frustrations. But every day you have to wake up with the mindset of “I’m ready to go and tackle today“.
While building or small business, I’ve learned how to be a better communicator as a leader, learned how to balance life and work better, and learned that the small business community is very strong together.
If you’re not passionate about what you do, in the end, it may never feel like it’s worth it. Choose a business or a profession that you feel so strongly about that you want to make a difference.
We started this company because we saw that there was a need. There was a need for other businesses to help get the word out about who they are and why they do what we do. We help tell the stories of those small business owners, and that’s what we’re passionate about.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was coming to visit, I would first take them to the top of pikes Peak to experience all of Colorado in one spot and I would then take them to a restaurant, called the purple onion, because they have the best gyros in town.
I would take them deeper into the mountains and drive-through the mountain towns so they could experience another side of Colorado.
There’s also great local breweries, called pub dog that we would visit along with metric brewing.
I love the local spots that have local owners so we would try to visit as many of those as we could!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When building a business, you start off by yourself and eventually you have to grow and expand. I wanted to give a large shout out to my team members who work so very hard every month, the businesses that support our small business, and everyone who believed in us in the beginning.
