We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Mckinney and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business originally started due to the need for a SUV, after moving to Colorado. My current daily driver is a dodge challenger. Coming from Virginia Beach, snow is never an issue, so its easy to drive a car like that daily. Once I arrived in Colorado and all the advice I got from friends and coworkers, I decided to get a second vehicle.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Most of my working career has been in healthcare/nutrition. I’ve spent the last 10 years in upper management. I recently started my side business of detailing cars and also using them on a peer-to-peer website called turo. It wasn’t easy getting to where I’am now. I’ve had some crazy situations happen, from an employee pulling a knife on someone, to someone burning sweet potatoes untiled they turned black, and still try and serve them. The most important thing to being successful is not giving up and always believing you can do more. I’ve also learned that there are others in this world who have a tougher situation than mine, so dont complain. “When you complain, you remain”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m still learning the area, but I believe it depends on what your looking for. If you want to travel to a mountain town that reminds you of an episode of “Once Upon of Time”, then breckenridge is great. Theirs always great events at Mile High Stadium, such as the bbq festival. Viewhouse is by far my favorite restaurant to visit for fun and drinks. My second favorite would be Torchys Taco. Honestly the first thing I would do with any visitor is take them towards Golden, CO, so they can get a good view of the mountains and finish at red rocks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I guess my encouragement to start came from an individual named pushmanmitch. You can find him on instagram or search youtube. He comes from the same city I grew up in and made a statement that stuck with me. “If you dont jump, you cant fly”. This quote is also what started his journey. I guess both of us can thank Steve Harvey.
