We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel & Nik Rowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel & Nik, how does your business help the community?
Discovery Pass helps the community by offering our local businesses a no-cost marketing solution. Our goal from the very beginning was to support local businesses, we did not want to be another thing that they needed to pay for. Marketing is arguably the most expensive part of growing any business. Discovery Pass allows businesses to get the word out by offering an incentive that is specific to their own margins. It’s a win-win solution. Businesses get free marketing and a boost in sales and the buyers get over $800 in savings and freebies for only $25.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Discovery Pass is a smartphone-based savings pass that features businesses in Salida and Buena Vista, Colorado. It’s completely digital and functions like an app on your phone, without the need to download anything. We put out two passes annually and they run for 6 months at a time. The current Pass has a value well over $800 and includes over 65 local businesses. Everything from eats and drinks to shops, experiences and lodging are on Discovery Pass.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our little slice of heaven offers some incredible outdoor adventures and places to eat, drink, shop and play. Depending on the season, we’d choose from a variety of activities. Whitewater rafting, fly fishing, jeeping, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, hot spring soaking, snowmobiling, skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing and more await! Eats and drinks include pizza and a pint at Moonlight or Amicas, a burger from Buena Viking, any of the baked goods at Little Red Hen, any of the sandwiches at Sweeties or Sorelle Delicatessen, breakfast burrito from Bunny & Clydes, brunch at Robin’s, any of the desserts at The Biker & The Baker and so many others! Beverages from Soulcraft Brewing, Tres Litros Brewery, Elevation Beer Company, Eddyline Brewery, Vino Salida, Wood’s High Mountain Distillery and Deerhammer Distillery. We’d go to the arcade, make our own jewelry and shop at all the fun stores in the area. Our live music scene is a great way to spend an evening and the river walks are always enjoyable.
