We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelina LeWand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From a young age, I was drawn to entrepreneurship (even though I didn’t know what that word was at the time😊). I remember spending days at my Aunt Mary’s house drawing up menus for my future restaurant or adding stickers to pencils to sell to the neighbors. As I got older, some of my favorite projects in school were putting together blog websites or designing presentations. I always loved the idea of creating something from scratch that I could call my own and be truly proud of.

I’ve always wrestled with the idea of committing to my own blog, but quite honestly, was scared to put myself out there like that. I didn’t know what I had that would separate me from anyone else and found it to be quite intimidating. But as time passed, I decided that I couldn’t live in that fear anymore and I needed to just take the chance. I have realized I do have a unique perspective that I want to share. And I know that I would enjoy creating my brand and blog so I would feel fulfilled no matter the results.

Creating a travel and lifestyle blog, MoVIN Eclectic, seemed quite natural to me. Travel and wellness are two important areas of my life that I am passionate about and I want to share that with the world, and I hope to inspire adventure, wellness, and continuous improvement.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My main goal with my business and blog is to make travel planning and the world of health and wellness as easy as possible. There is so much information out there and it can be really overwhelming. I do tons of research for any of my travels and wellness routines to consistently learn new things. I want to share all of this information in an easily accessible way to everyone, hopefully making these worlds of travel and wellness a bit less overwhelming. With travel, I strive to create the most unique and exciting travel experiences, and as a nature- and animal-lover, ensuring any activity is always environmentally conscious and animal-friendly. For all of my wellness routines I strive to find the safest, cleanest, and most environmentally conscious routines.

I am a Project Manager in a Marketing Department by day and have learned so much from this role that has helped me get to where I am at today with MoVIN Eclectic. From understanding processes, to properly managing finances, to SEO/digital best practices, to the importance of a strong brand, and more. All of this knowledge has been incredibly helpful to starting my business off on the right track. Creating my business has been such a great learning opportunity for me to dive deeper into each of these skills.

I am truly passionate about each and every aspect of my business and all of the things that I share through this platform. I hope everyone can find something that resonates with them!

I have so many future plans for MoVIN Eclectic and can’t wait to bring those to life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh boy! I love this question! There is so much to do in Milwaukee, this could be a full itinerary!

For things to do, I would highly recommend shopping in the Third Ward and Milwaukee Public Market, watch the Burke Brise Soleil (or “wings”) open and close with the Milwaukee Art Museum, check out the botanical gardens at the Mitchell Park Domes, and of course none of my itineraries would be complete without a bit of hiking, so I would recommend checking out Seven Bridges Trail. There are also countless festivals and markets so definitely check out whichever ones are going on that week!

We have so many amazing local coffee roasters. I highly recommend Valentine Coffee, Anodyne Coffee, and Interval. For food, Aperitivo is my absolute favorite and Dan’s TV Repair is a good time! For drinks, Copper Turtle has some great drinks, and The Outsider has an amazing rooftop with a stunning view of the city and sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel very fortunate to have so many people in my life that have loved and supported me through all the different seasons of my life.

I absolutely would not be where I am today without the unconditional love and support of my mom. She has taught me true resilience, selflessness and kindness for everyone around, and that life is an evolution where we can continue to grow and redefine ourselves.

I want to thank my boyfriend, Joe, for always being by my side, encouraging me to be who I am even when I doubt myself, and pushing me to my full potential.

I would also like to shoutout my sister, Torianna, and niece, Nova Rose, for bringing so much joy and laughter to my life.

Lastly, I would like to recognize a book I recently read called The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, as a recommendation from a family member. A lot of this book focuses on overcoming, what Gay Hendricks calls, the Upper Limit Problem, which is when we experience negative emotions after a positive event occurs in our lives. He talks about these fears that prevent us from achieving our true potential and happiness, and how to break free from those. I found this book to be so insightful into areas of my life where I prevent myself from doing things that would be fulfilling for me or putting myself out there, because of certain fears. This book has allowed me to better identify and be conscious of when I am overthinking a decision or acting against my own happiness. I can now stop, say “oh, I’m totally upper limiting myself here”, ask myself why, and determine a plan forward without that fear.
