We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Howell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a Christian mom I try to seek God and pray for my children and how I can obey what God is calling me to do. 8 years ago, I was a personal trainer at a large gym and was loving it. I loved my clients, I loved my schedule that allowed me to spend time with my oldest child and my youngest who was 4 months old at the time. We had just bought a fixer upper and planned to use my income to pay for renovations, but God had a different plan for us. I started to pray about possibly staying home. I thought I would be at my current job for at least another year but God made it apparent that it was time for me to quit my job and focus on being a stay at home mom. I quit my job within a month and found even more joy in staying home. As my children have grown I’ve tried to model my faith. I believe that the extra time I’ve gotten to spend with them has been one of my biggest treasures. As they’ve grown I’ve built a business around being there for them.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My gym only trains woman. I wanted to create an environment where women feel comfortable to be themselves. I wanted all women to feel like they belong at my gym. The woman I train are single women with or without children, stay at home moms, highly professional women and moms. All of us have made different life choices but enjoy each other’s company as well as pushing through a good workout. I want my women to feel cared for, confident, and proud of what they can achieve. I also recently developed a passion for training women who are going through perimenopause, menopause, or are post menopause. I think it’s important to help them navigate the new changes to their body and help minimize the health side effects.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot in Colorado has to be Rocky Mountain National Park so I would have to plan a week around all kinds of hiking. It’s beautiful no matter the time of year. In the Denver area we’d definitely have to visit Lucille’s Creole Cafe for their beignets and chai latte. Some other favorite restaurants to visit would be rivers and roads coffee house, Denver Biscuit Company, Los Chingones, little man’s ice cream and my favorite restaurant The Plimoth. I’d also have to take my friend to Putt Shack for a fun night of putt putt!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband definitely gets some of the credit for my business because he is always listening to my crazy ideas and supported my dream to start my own business even though I had no idea how I would find clients when I first started it.
