We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Pausch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was the freedom of exploring how to become a full time Artist. Structuring my day to day life that fueled my energy. Building a life of curiosity and exploration funded by my Art.

Art is my core. There is an energy and curiosity that builds inside me that must be let out. No matter what is happening around me or in life, crayon on a menu to ink on wood.

Today I am a Woodcut Printmaker carving my own explorations out of wood and then printing them on paper and cloth. Through my Denver Art community, everyday is invigorating and different. From carving and printing in the studio, to teaching at a non-profit and printing Letterpress. On the weekends traveling to Art Markets enables me to simultaneously explore new places, hike and camp.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I grew a loving respect for the natural world as an avid hiker growing up in central New York amongst environmental scientist such as Carl Sagan’s family and Cornell Scientists.

My Art curiosity melded with my love for our natural environment ultimately curated my print imagery of flora, insect and landscapes.

After graduating with a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design I moved out of the city back to rural NYS and finally to Denver! Colorado’s city and mountain life is similar to NY enabling my hiking and print background.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Grab a tasty vegan meal at the Corner Beet then head over to the Denver Botanical Gardens for plants and Art. Then head out to the Mountains for a hike. Eat tasty pizza at Blue Pan and a cocktail at Honey Elixir Bar. Then head to Meow Wolf!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The welcoming Printmaking community of Denver including those who make our studio amazing at the Art Gym.
