We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Aladjova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annie, how does your business help the community?
Enjoying time in nature can be complicated. The desire to connect with nature resides in all of us, but authentic outdoor travel has always traded off luxury and hospitality for roughing it in the wilderness. We started Roameo to eliminate the barriers to outdoor travel, so more people can enjoy spending time in nature. By providing upscale Mobile Travel Suites (built on converted Ram Promaster vans), we can solve for many of the reasons that often hold people back from these vacations, such as safety, shelter, and easy access to creature comforts like temperature control and running water. Researchers have found that spending some amount of time outdoors has a host of benefits, ranging from lower blood pressure to improved concentration to easier relaxation. Outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, walking and other forms of exercise can help lower your risk of chronic disease and improve your overall cardiovascular system — health and wellness benefits you simply can’t get from sitting behind your computer screen all day.
When you book a trip through Roameo, all of these activities and more are at your fingertips. Plus, our flagship location is in Colorado, which boasts 300 days of sunshine per year.
Not sure exactly what to do once you hit the road? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. A lot of people underestimate the planning that goes into a glamping trip. Many campsites at our National Parks have been sold out for months, and deciding where to stop isn’t always as easy as a few clicks on TripAdvisor. That’s why we also offer concierge services and pre-planned retreats for a truly turnkey way to experience the outdoors.
If you’ve always wanted to… Try white-water rafting? Head for the rapids. Learn to ski? Book a lesson. Take up birding? Grab a pair of binoculars. Your Roameo trip is the perfect time to explore new passions, learn something new, step outside your comfort zone and expand your horizons.
What should our readers know about your business?
We set out to create a true “hotel on wheels” experience. If Outdoorsy is known as the AirBnB of RV rentals, there really is no upscale hotel chain equivalent on the market, and we set out to change that. The consistency offered by a fleet of identical vehicles ensures our guests always know what to expect. Amenities like a flushable toilet, hot water shower, temperature control, toiletries, and plush bedding set us apart as the upscale way to go where hotels can’t go.
I started my career in the startup ecosystem, specifically in accounting and finance in the city of Chicago. My past roles have exposed me different aspects and perspectives of starting a business; from vetting companies to invest in on the Venture Capital side, to building financial systems for newly formed companies, to fundraising, scaling, and ultimately going through a successful exit. This exposure has given me the opportunity to learn what leading indicators of success at a small company are, and what gets investors excited.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here is one of my favorite Roameo itineraries!
Day 1: Head to Dacono to pick up your Roameo. Start your trip with a ride on the nearby Motocross & Go Kart racetrack, or if you are with a group check out the paintball course. After, head to Boulder for dinner at Corrida for a splurge, or margaritas at T/aco for something more casual.
Day 2: Go to El Dorado Canyon in the morning to try mountain biking or rock climbing. In the afternoon, make your way way to Golden to rent a super car from Epic Canyon Supercar Drive, then take in every curve of Golden Gate Canyon on this scenic drive up CO-46. Continue into the mountains in the evening, stopping in Breckenridge for dinner at Gravity Haus.
Day 3: Go for a morning hike. Grab a casual lunch in Frisco, then spend the afternoon taking in the scenery at Lake Dillon by SUP.
Day 4: If you are looking for some adrenaline, try a white water rafting trip departing from Frisco. Otherwise, checkout Keystone River Course for a scenic golf game.
Day 5: Start making your way back, but first stop at Red Rocks. If you can coordinate your trip to overlap with a concert, you will not be disappointed. Otherwise, hike the area or enjoy a picnic lunch.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to our team members for creating an exceptional product and experience unlike anything else on the market! And shoutout to our friends and family for listening to us talk exclusively about campervans and glamping over the last year.
