We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Wardle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my own business I truly just wanted to be in charge of my own success. I was tired of someone else dictating how much money I made, what hours I worked, how much time off I got, etc.
Also, I wanted the freedom to drive my kids to school in the morning or stay home with them when they were sick without having to call into work. There was so much value to this. Knowing I could work from anywhere in the world as long as I had an internet connection meant total freedom to me.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Talk Out Loud focuses on helping businesses with customer acquisition through digital marketing. We work with new businesses and established businesses, helping them with everything from Logo Design & Web Development to Google Ads, SEO, and Social Media Marketing.
I owe a lot of my business’s success to networking. Being in my community and meeting people. Building those relationships and providing a service of good quality and value helped me build trust in my community and built a great referral network for me. I have been able to grow and continue to be successful by word of mouth.
Growing a business is never easy. I have definitely had several “live and learn” moments, but I’ve been able to overcome those by reaching out to mentors or other business owners for advice.
Something I would want the world to know about Talk Out Loud is that we aren’t a one size fits all agency. Different clients have different goals when it comes to marketing. We like to get to know those goals, find out who the competitors are, and then put together a package for our clients that we feel would set them apart or set them above the competition the quickest and in order the best ROI.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take someone to go do the incline. I feel like that’s just a must while in Colorado, and I love to hike so it’s right up my alley. The Rabbit Hole is my favorite for happy hour and the vibe in that place is just something special. Of course, I can’t forget Pikes Perk for coffee!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of my husband, Chris. When I was struggling with making the commitment to leave my job and start my own company, he couldn’t have been more encouraging. He reassured me that the decision was a good one, and how much he believed in me and knew I would succeed. I wouldn’t have made the jump without his encouragement and support. Indeed he was right, and it’s been the best decision I ever made. So thank you, Chris! I am forever grateful to you.
