We had the good fortune of connecting with April Garth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
When someone comes into my salon for a fresh haircut, I feel like I’m elevating their mood, confidence and dramatically increasing their self-esteem. As a result, I believe they feel better prepared to face the world, which gives them a more positive outlook on their place in it. Additionally, I volunteer to attend my high school alma mater on career day to showcase to the students that ownership is possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The thought of being responsible for my own business was both a scary and exciting thought at first. After years of working for a franchise salon and knowing that I had a consistent salary to rely upon, those intimidating thoughts crept into my mind. Can I really do this for myself? Will this work? The one thing I was always certain of, however, was my talent as a hairstylist and my skill in delivering a great haircut. I was confident that my abilities would be appreciated once a client sat in my chair for the first time. With the support of family and friends I stepped out on faith to make my dream happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Favorite Mexican Restaurant – Las Delicias in Glendale, CO / Denver Art Museum / Denver Zoo / Red Rocks Amphitheatre / Downtown Aquarium

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a BIG Shoutout to all the important people in my life, who helped make my dream a reality. I could not thank them enough for all the support they have given and continue to show.
