Meet Armene Piper | Motorcycle School Owner, RiderCoach Trainer, Certified Laser Specialist and Laser Studio owner, and Death and Dying Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Armene Piper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Armene, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is that you have to have a business degree (or even a college degree) to become a successful entrepreneur.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My first business, Left Hand Laser Studio, is an aesthetic laser studio that I opened in 2017. I started Left Hand after having a bad experience as a client at a different laser studio. I wanted to offer a better customer experience than what I had received.
My second business is a motorcycle school I opened just a few short weeks before Covid shut the whole world down. To say that I had no idea what I was getting myself into is the understatement of the century. I made a lot of mistakes and I learned a lot about the importance of contracts and getting a good attorney to look over agreements. We’re now in our fifth season and are the second largest school in Colorado.
My third business is less of a business and more of my way to give back to the community. I have recently become a death coach and I am working on becoming a death doula as well.
Nothing about running or owning my own businesses has been easy, especially since I also have five children, but it has been incredibly rewarding to be able to provide for my family and to show my kids that they can do anything they put their minds into.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love La Lomas in Denver. I’m a native to Colorado so I remember when it used to be a bit more of a sports bar next to the Broncos’ stadium but their food is delicious. I really enjoy concerts at the Ogden and the Bluebird Theaters. The hotel at Union Station is a great place to spend a couple of nights and I love watching comedy at Comedy works.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my in laws who are a HUGE reason I was able to start my first business. They gave me my first business loan and were the first set of parent figures in my life that truly believed in me.
