We had the good fortune of connecting with Austin Chipman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Austin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
BUCKETS OF SPAGHETTI!
We (Brady and Myself) came up with the concept to offer affordable and delicious family size portions of spaghetti and other Italian style food.
Who doesn’t want a bucket of spaghetti!? 🙂
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This idea was totally out of the blue and something entirely new to myself and my partner aside from what we have done in the past.
Brady has been a full time welder/fabricator and I have run a retail store for about 8 years.
Neither of us have degrees in college.
Let me tell you it was NOT easy lol
We had this idea generated in about 2 months. Took exactly 364 days from when we signed our lease until we could open the doors to the public.
A big reason for that was our lack of experience getting permits, sub contracting licensed work for the build out inside our store front.
Opening a hardgood retail store compared to opening a food establishment are two very different things which neither of us were prepared for.
But after almost a year, we did it!
There was tons of frustration and personal doubt along the way, but we took every speed bump and set back one step at a time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorad0 has so much to offer. Night life, adventuring you name it.
If it was the winter, I would take them down to the south west portion of Colorado, most likely take them skiing.
Summer time id say catching a rockies game and getting drinks downtown afterwards would be a solid move.
The list is endless!
Tubing down the Platte river, going hiking in Estes park, catching a show at red rocks…etc, etc, etc!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is kinda a tough one.
Id say a lot of the drive comes from wanting to be successful and part of it coming from anyone that potentially doubted us.
We have had a TON of support from friends and family.
Making my parents, friends or family proud of my/our accomplishments is certainly motivation to succeed.
I can personally thank Brady my partner for a large portion of the idea and general concept. A lot of this was his idea and he reached out to me for help and to make it come true.
