We had the good fortune of connecting with Ava Werner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ava, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting a photography business, was to inspire young teenagers like me to go out of their comfort zone to do the things they enjoy.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a 16 year old girl in Wisconsin that travels to places like Colorado, Mexico, Wyoming, etc. as a Junior in high school. As I go on these trips, I take pictures of mountains, animals and even people sometimes. I am different from other teenagers my age because I put my self out on social media to do thing I love. I am excited to keep growing my business as I move on in life. Ever since I was little I have always loved taking pictures, so I decided to start posting on instagram. I have learned to take the constructive criticism from other photographers to help me grow, even if it hurt my feelings along the way. I want the world to know that no matter how young or old you are, sticking with the thing you love helps you grow as a person.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I took my best friend anywhere for a good time, I would take them to Colorado to ski. We would take a road trip from Wisconsin to Colorado, ski everyday, eat on the hill, and cook dinner on the road. In Aspen Colorado I would take my best friend to the HighLand bowl, it is about a 45 minute hike and a 45 minute ski down. The views are incredible when you get to the top, and definitely a moment to remember through pictures.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout all of the photograph hunters I reached out to, that encouraged me to keep taking pictures and exploring different ideas. I would also like to give some credit to my dad for letting me take pictures of his coworkers, for his own business.
