We had the good fortune of connecting with Aveeda Goodall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aveeda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor is finding something you truly love and enjoy and simply STARTING to share it with the world! I think the most difficult part for most people is deciding on what that exact something is, but more often than not, it’s something you’re already doing, creating, enjoying, etc. And what a great time we are living in where opportunity is literally at your fingertips (oh, hey cell phones) and starting your own brand or business is as easy as just deciding to do it!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Customer Success Consultant for a large Fortune 500 Technology Company by day.
But what makes my soul happiest is what I do in my free time which is run a Denver-based Food Influencer IG account. In 2019, I was in between jobs for a couple of months and decided to put my thousands (honestly 10s of thousands) of food pics to good use and start an IG page. I remember how excited I was when the restaurants I posted actually reposted me or liked and commented on my pics! I am so incredibly lucky that 3 years later, I now partner with some of these restaurants and have gained wonderful relationships with some of the most incredible and talented chefs and business and restaurant owners, and even PR gurus in Denver.
I’ve learned that the best thing to do with your brand and your IG page is to be consistent and just let it grow organically. There are SO many shortcuts these days to get to that coveted 10k follower number and beyond, but I find that if you don’t let the followers and engagement come naturally, eventually, it will show!
I’ve also learned that being your authentic self is the most important thing you can offer as an influencer. Be kind, be truthful, and always be grateful! Restaurants and chefs are sharing their creations, their babies with me and I will never stop being thankful for that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooh okay, as someone whos East Coast friends and family used to visit OFTEN in the first couple years of our move to CO, I love this question.
I would find a concert (or yoga, or just a free morning) to take them to Red Rocks. This is still one of my favorite things about being in the Denver area and if we can catch a concert here or at least get a great workout in on these steps, even better. I would also make sure we hit up a hot springs – I’ve only been to a couple, but I really enjoy Iron Mountain Springs in Glenwood. And of course, while we were in the mountains, we’d find a hike to do: Hanging Lake or St. Mary’s Glacier.
As far as food and drink is concerned, this is gonna be a tough one. Somehow, it is RARE that I find food I don’t care for in town, but let’s see if I can narrow the list down a bit – I guess we can only eat and drink so much in one week.
I’d grab a Cafe Flan Sua Da from Ti Cafe first to fuel our food adventure, then we’d go to RiNo and walk around to see the street art and get some lunch from Lunchboxx inside Denver Central Market – I recently tried their Mushroom Sandwich and my life has forever been changed because of it. I’d then make a stop into Welton Room for my fave cocktails and mixologists (and honestly, just all around best people) in town. And then because we’d be hungry again, for dinner I’d get a lb (for each of us) of the Burnt Ends from Smok, some Sweet Raw Shrimp from Go Fish, some Truffle Mac and Cheese from Guard and Grace, and the Clam Pie from Cart Driver.
I would also do a food truck day where we go eat some of my fave food in town which just so happen to be from food trucks: Mukja for some of their Korean cheese dogs, Yuan Wonton for their Chili Garlic Wontons, then hit up Pho King Rapidos for their Pork Belly Fries, and then of course, go find Not Yo Mama’s Cupcakes for whatever Asian inspired cupcake flavors she’s slingin that week.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout goes to my parents who taught me early on that food is a love language! My favorite memories growing up are all associated with either going out to eat with my parents and little brother or making and sharing meals at home with my aunts, uncles, cousins and all of our family friends. To this day, eating and enjoying meals is still my favorite way to spend quality time with those I love.
I also want to give an extra special shoutout to my husband. I don’t believe he was a foodie of any kind before we started dating, but I want him to know that I am grateful for ALL of the times he let me drag him out of the house to whatever new restaurant I discovered that day, and not to mention fund those meals. He is my favorite forever date and plus 1.
