We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Elora and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bailey, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Being able to do what I love brings me so much joy. Music is such a gift and being able to create it by myself and with my friends is simply incredible.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a singer-songwriter for the majority of my life and I really wouldn’t want to do anything else. Mainly because I love it, but also because I have no plan B for my life haha. And was it easy? I almost feel like it’s a trick question because nothing is easy, especially nothing that has to do with making art. While the end product is always worth it, sometimes the process can be a bit painful. In the emotional way where you’re literally putting your heart on your sleeve lyrically, but also when your having to do the lengthy process of playing it over and over and over and over until its perfect. As for lessons? CONTRACTS, ALWAYS USE CONTRACTS. As much as you want to trust things will work out, sometimes they don’t. Having contracts is a simple way to keep yourself safe, as well as a way to show your serious about your art. I think the thing I want most is for people to just enjoy my music – the only thing I’d want the world to know about me is that I love my music and I love to share it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Colorado has it’s downsides (ex. the insane rent prices) but being busy, beautiful and chalk full of things to do? Definitely is an upside. I like to think I’m really good at finding the best restaurants, coffee shops, and random interesting events.

For the first day in town, you have to start strong with breakfast at Syrup (the one on York St.). I personally recommend getting their breakfast tacos, but almost anything on their menu is sure to impress. Lunch has to be at my favorite thai restaurant, Swing Thai. Order a cocktail and some coconut lemongrass soup. To fill some time in your day, see a movie at the gorgeous Mayan Theater, and chat over a pot of tea and scones at Babe’s Tea Room. For dinner, we’re going for sushi at Blue Sake off 16th street mall. Have another cocktail (or mocktail, whatever suits you) and indulge yourself in some creative sushi rolls and the best miso soup in Denver.

Now for the rest of your visit, because I believe in spontaneity, you have to go to at least one or two shows. For something a little more intimate, go to The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues which has the cleanest sound and best bartenders. For something bigger, try out seeing a concert at The Bluebird where there isn’t a bad view in the whole place. Take your time to visit some of my favorite coffee shops, The Gypsy House for the most perfect turkish coffee, The Molecule Effect for rotating artists work on the walls as well as a sweet pistachio latte, or The Corner Beet for, you guessed it, beet flavored treats like toast with a thick pink beet spread and a beet latte. As for food, you could grab Shrimp and Grits at The Denver Biscuit Company, Bao Buns and Curry at Zoe Ma Ma, savory baked goods at Omonoia Greek bakery, or if you’re looking for somewhere to go that will please everyones tastes buds, Zeppelin Station which has the coolest atmosphere and the best popup restaurants.

And to end my longgggg answer of what to do when in Denver, you can’t leave without visiting Denver Cat Company where you can literally pay to hang out with the sweetest, adoptable, little kitties.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My band. I really wouldn’t be where I am today as an artist if it wasn’t for those guys. We’ve been playing and writing together for a good group of years now and it’s been so amazing. They push me to bring my best to the table and are always there supporting me which is more than I could ever ask for.
