We had the good fortune of connecting with Becka Repp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
MY business is my passion. I have been a dancer most of my life. When I discovered Barre Fitness I loved it. I was teaching Adult Ballet Classes and Barre Fitness in Arizona. When I moved here and didn’t find any studios in Loveland that offered drop in classes for adults in Ballet, Barre, Pilates, or other Dance Inspired Fitness classes it seemed natural to start my own. I began teaching in my home and saw the need for this type of studio. Once I established some clients I explained my business outside the home and found a space to offer classes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I decided at a young age that I wanted to be a professional ballet dancer. I dedicated my life to that goal. I went to Mercyhurst College and received my B.A in dance. After college I danced professionally with Atlanta Festival Ballet. I was not an easy road. I was told often I was too tall. Although many people believe being tall is good as a dancer it is actually not true. I was considered too tall for many companies at 5’10. I worked very hard. I learned that if you work hard and really love something you can achieve many things. I believe work ethic and perseverance is the key to success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Denver to see Colorado Ballet. Then we would go to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. One of my favorite places to eat is Jim and Bird in Estes Park, so we would go there for lunch. Then I would spend some time in Downtown Loveland walking around downtown and bar hopping and the different breweries.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mentor has made it possible for me to start this business. Lisa Juliet, the owner of Ballet Fusion Fitness, has talked me through starting this business every step of the way and training me as a Master Instructor with International Ballet Barre Fitness Association.
