We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben & Nichole Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ben & Nichole, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting the adventure of creating Little Nuggets Soft Play Rentals was easy and came natural for us. We absolutely love kids, which is why we have three children of our own. We both come from diverse and cultural backgrounds ,which instilled strong family values and caring for our kiddos. Ben comes from a very diverse background, he was born in Spain by way of his African American father being posted there during his time in the military. Being a 20 year military Veteran himself, he understands the dedication, attention to detail, and work ethic it takes to run a small business. Nichole, originally from Canada has a deep understanding and compassion for people and building connections as a nurse and mother.
This translated into wanting to spread those same values, joy, and happiness to other families within our Castle Rock community, which brought Little Nuggets Soft Play Rentals to light.
Our soft play is foam-padded equipment that creates a structured, stimulating and safe interactive environment for young children and allows for exploration, learning, independence and encourages social and physical development. Our goal…is to provide your little nuggets with an oasis, where creativity meets dedication, and where we provide a world infused with joy for you and your loved ones.
What should our readers know about your business?
Celebrations are important in everyone’s life. Whether it’s birthdays, graduations, or religious ceremonies. Close to our youngest daughter’s first birthday, we tried to find activities for her party, but there were not many options available in Castle Rock or the surrounding areas for toddlers so we decided to fill in that gap. We have a variety of options from bouncy houses to ball pits. We take extreme pride in our cleaning process of our equipment. We know that kids are prone to getting sick, thats why we efficiently and thoroughly clean our products after every use and event. What sets us a part from a lot of small business is that we care deeply about our military service members and our health care workers because Nichole and I both work in these positions; Nichole is a registered nurse and Ben is an Air Force retired Veteran. We understand the sacrifices this community makes to our beautiful country. Their bravery and dedication to protected the health and our freedoms, ensures the safety of our families. This why as a small token of appreciation we offer both military and health care worker discounts on our rentals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Nichole and I are extremely fortunate to live in the lovely town of Castle Rock Colorado. Contemporary but still with a small town charm, our home offers a plethora of things to do. If you are a foodie, we would definitely take our guests to the tribe at riverwalk, a modern upscale American restaurant with excellent cocktails. If they wanted more of a pub atmosphere with great finger foods we would take them to the Great Divide which is second to none. A trip to Castle Rock would not be complete without exploring exceptional outdoor landmarks. If it’s variety that they are looking for, they would have to look no further than Philip S. Miller Park, a 300-acre park which has an outdoor Amphitheater, a Challenge Hill outdoor staircase, a ton of interconnected trails, and ziplines courses! If you happen to be in town at the right time, nothing in Colorado beats the yearly old tradition of the cowhands drive or our holiday ceremony that includes lighting the star on top of Castle Rock!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think first and foremost we would like to thank Nichole’s mother, Jan, who was a business owner for 20+ years. We were extremely inspired by her first solo craft business and her second business, a restaurant/comedy bar, which was a partnership with her husband and 2 others. Jan’s story taught us that owning a business comes with many challenges and risks, but with big rewards through hard work, consistency, and collaboration. We also want to recognize our 3 children. They are all at different ages hitting their personal milestones which we are so proud of. This inspired us to cater our business to children within our Castle Rock community, we know how important these milestones are to families and their loved ones.
