We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Sandlin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Beth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The idea for Trifecta Pilates came to me in a moment of real-world observation. One day, I saw a woman with two children in tow, rushing from a train to catch a bus. It struck me how her hectic schedule must make it nearly impossible to find time for something like a Pilates class. This was my ‘aha’ moment. I realized that even if I opened a physical studio, people like her might never be able to attend due to the constraints of their daily lives.

This observation resonated with my own experiences. Despite having worked in Pilates studios, I found that most of my own practice took place at home. It was then that I decided to shift my focus. I wanted to bring studio-quality Pilates out of the traditional studio setting and into people’s homes. This way, it could be more accessible, especially for those juggling demanding schedules.

At Trifecta Pilates, we’ve embraced this concept wholeheartedly. Our online platform is designed to bring the full experience of a Pilates studio into the comfort and convenience of your home. Whether it’s a busy parent, a full-time professional, or anyone else struggling to find time for fitness, our goal is to make Pilates accessible and adaptable to their lifestyle.

In over 20 years of moving with Pilates and being a health educator, I’ve learned the importance of adaptability in workouts and wellness. What worked in the past may not suit us today. So at Trifecta Pilates, we focus on finding what works for you now, what lights you up, and makes you enjoy your workouts. Because ultimately, if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t stick with it.

Starting Trifecta Pilates wasn’t just about creating an online fitness platform; it was about breaking down barriers to wellness and bringing the life-changing benefits of Pilates to as many people as possible, wherever they are.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Trifecta Pilates stands out in the wellness industry with our holistic approach, not just focusing on workouts, but encompassing overall wellness, including the nervous system’s role in sustainable fitness. Our Pilates classes are crafted to enrich life, emphasizing the balance of fitness, fuel, and fun – the key pillars of the Pilates lifestyle.

A significant part of our evolution and what I am particularly proud of is our expansion into offering teacher training and continuing education. This move allows us to share our unique approach with a broader audience, empowering other Pilates enthusiasts to become skilled teachers. Our teacher training programs are designed not just to teach the methods of Pilates but to instill the values of a holistic, adaptable approach to Pilates.

The journey to where we are today wasn’t easy. Transitioning to an online platform, while ensuring the quality and personal touch of Pilates instruction, was a significant challenge. We tackled this through innovation, a deep commitment to our community, and leveraging technology effectively.

The biggest lessons from our journey are adaptability and the power of community. The feedback and engagement from our members have shaped our journey and offerings. They’ve taught us that the path to success in wellness is through continuous learning and adaptation, both for us as a brand and for our clients in their personal fitness journeys.

I want the world to know that Trifecta Pilates is more than just a place for a good workout; it’s a lifestyle that embraces a balanced, realistic, and personalized approach to health. We’re committed to enriching lives through Pilates and to fostering a new generation of Pilates teachers who share our philosophy. Our story is a testament to passion, innovation, and a belief in the transformative power of Pilates, not just as a workout routine, but as a way of life.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wholeheartedly believe that the path to success is rarely walked alone, and my journey with Trifecta Pilates is a testament to that. There are many key influences and support systems that I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to.

Firstly, I’d like to recognize the profound impact that Joseph Pilates, the founder of the Pilates method, has had on my professional life. His pioneering work laid the foundation for my entire career, and his philosophy continues to inspire the ethos behind Trifecta Pilates.

I am deeply grateful to my early mentors and teacher, especially Karen Clippinger. Karen’s encouragement to enroll in the Pilates teacher training program was a turning point in my career. She opened my eyes to the diverse possibilities within the Pilates method, showing me that movement can adapt to each individual’s needs. Her guidance, coupled with the expertise and encouragement of other mentors, didn’t just teach me the technical aspects of Pilates; they instilled in me the importance of continual learning and adaptation in the field.

Special thanks also go to Allison Marsh, who played a pivotal role in helping me understand the nuances of starting an online business. Her insights and guidance were invaluable as I navigated the digital landscape, laying the groundwork for Trifecta Pilates’ online presence.

Equally important in my journey is my family, who are my number one reason for pursuing this path. Their support fuels my dedication to workouts and the business, inspiring me to stay healthy, energetic, and balanced – essential for enjoying life.

And a heartfelt shoutout to the incredible Trifecta Pilates community. The feedback, stories, and active engagement from our members are more than just gratifying; they are vital ingredients in the development of our new classes and programs. It propels us to innovate, adapt, and evolve, always with the goal of enhancing the Trifecta Pilates experience.
