We had the good fortune of connecting with Betsy Wiersma and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Betsy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My brand, the CampExperience Network, uses love as a business tool! Our motto is to “Do Good and Have Fun” and in 15 years we have helped over 5000 women build their personal and business success while raising over $1 million for charities in Colorado and around the world. We build relationships as we come together to share like-hearted projects. And from the relationships and experiences we then do business and refer business. We call this magic of an active and growing network of powerful women “Sisterhood By Choice” and our guests and attendees are the “Camp Sisters.” We do this with a strategy of inclusion, acceptance, and FUN! This translates into monthly live and virtual networking events, four Signature Events including our annual Fall Retreat, a sponsorship Co-op to maximize investment in the Network and Charity Partners who benefit from our events and activities. During COVID lockdowns, I have made daily videos showcasing our philosophy under the theme “Love is the antivirus,” and we have added tactical podcasts to support our Network. The magic is the LOVE!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a craftlete. It is the artist version of athlete! It started with making and selling macramé bead bracelets in 4th grade and today is a line of cards, blessing journals, card decks, original art, prints and now the art and insights book The STEW. https://campexperience.com/the-stew I call my brand Art on Purpose. This has a story. First I went to an “art camp” to escape a screaming teenager who had no use for a mother. I did not know how to love someone who wanted nothing to do with me, so I did something for myself…and “checked myself in” to art! In mindless art, color and texture I found life! I loved mixed media and dove in just for fun. And from the fun came the 50 art angels, and the inspirational patterns and the inspiring messages that today are products to love and support people. I donate from my sales to global good organizations. So the art has a purpose: uplift, inspire, support and save the health and happiness of the artist…ME!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my story to the 62 women from my CampExperience Network who share ideas and uplifting stories in The STEW: Smart Talk Exceptional Women. https://campexperience.com/the-stew These women opened their hearts to tell stories of hope, trust, triumph and tragedy. These women in March – June 2020 and in the lockdown of CPOVID 19, took the time to thoughtfully recount the lessons from their lives that might be hope and encouragement for another person. Althought I was the organizer, I had no idea the power of each person as they brought their full heart to the world and told their truth. I dedicate my life and I am forever thankful for parents Norma and Cliff Wiersma (their story is on The STEW) who told their middle daughter Betsy that she could save the world, one act of kindness at a time. And I believed them!
