Meet Billy Fabrocini | Bass player in Talking Point

We had the good fortune of connecting with Billy Fabrocini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Billy, why did you pursue a creative career?
For us, it comes down to that feeling of fulfillment. For some of us, music has become so intertwined in every aspect of our lives that no matter how many directions we get pulled in, it seems like at the end of the day music is what maintains us on the correct path. The beauty of doing what you love, with others that love it as well, is that the decision to continue just gets easier. Between the four members of Talking Point, our backgrounds in music range from DIY self taught punk show musicians, to world touring professionals with careers spanning the industries various different pockets, and everything in between. The common denominator in all of our backgrounds is the shared experience of being that kid at a show watching other kids perform and thinking “this is the coolest thing on earth!”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think the beauty of Talking Point comes from the realness of the lyrics and the sincerity, sometimes raw emotion, of their delivery. When it comes to listening to music, sometimes fanciful stories of knights fighting dragons or creatures being trapped beneath glaciers is cool, but it’s not what I personally would want to sing about. Having lyrics that can be painful but relatable, I believe, is what makes Talking Point a band worth listening to. Someone might hear the lyrics and connect in a way that lasts more deeply, and that’s what it’s all about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a sucker for the Fort Collins classics, I want to be in Old Town during the winter for the beautiful lights, and I want to be on the Horsetooth Reservoir in the summer! There is no shortage of awesome music venues to fill your weekend, like The Aggie Theatre, Washington’s, or even the Mishawaka up the Poudre Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can definitely say I speak for all four of us when I say none of this would be possible without parents or teachers in our childhood that gave us the chance to explore music. I can remember the first week of 6th Grade when the music teacher brought me into the main office before first period to tell the administrators that I needed to be placed into her music class. She caught me playing on a buddies drum line marching snare and must have thought “this kid needs some help” haha! Nowadays the backbone of support is definitely our significant others. I think my life would lack a lot of the important structure if it wasn’t for my wife! I think the people that deserve a major shout out would be the locals in the scene doing it for the love of it all! Concert promoters like Miguel at Front Range Fury here in Fort Collins, or independent label owners like Derik at Braeburn Records. The music scenes exist because of everyone who participates.
