Meet Blanche Podio | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blanche Podio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blanche, what do you attribute your success to?
People. I absolutely believe that people are the biggest factor in my success. This includes the people that I work for and the people who work with me. My clients are amazing and my favorite thing about them is that I have so many who return to me year after year for everything from family photos to senior shoots to pet photographs. I have the privilege of watching their kids grow up and seeing their families change. And then those amazing clients bring me even more people! Word of mouth is my only form of advertising and the fact that my clients continuously bring me new business is what truly makes me feel successful.
On the other side of that is the people that I work with. I have some amazing photographers who work with me time and time again and I would not be able to run my business without them. I am surrounded by an amazing support system of my family and friends who really encourage and push me every day. I would not be where I am without their endless support.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m proud of how far I’ve come with my photography. It hasn’t always been easy – it’s taken hours of training and practice. And I never stop learning. Whether I’m shooting weddings, families, seniors, or the local high school prom, I want my photos to be something my clients will treasure for years to come. When you look at a photo and it brings back memories and emotions – that’s what I want!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m more of a homebody, but Colorado is such a beautiful state I love to show it off! I’d start with a drive through the Arkansas River canyon to Salida, where we would eat at the The Boathouse and watch the kayakers on the river. We’d spend time in Pueblo walking the Riverwalk and the shops on Union Avenue. There are some great restaurants there too. And you just can’t beat the sunsets at Liberty Point.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my husband, who has been my total support throughout this crazy journey. When my daughter’s softball team needed a photographer, he was the one who said, “Blanche can do it”. Despite my complete panic, I did it. That was the beginning of my photography career. He splurged and bought me my first professional camera and every camera I’ve had since then. When I find doubt creeping in, he’s always the one to tell me I can do it. He’s helped me lug my equipment from location to location without once complaining. He’s my sounding board and my voice of reason. There is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be where I am without him.
