We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaleccia Ates and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaleccia, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
If you have tried to give up and throw in the towel when the going got tough but life, purpose, and passion through the towel right back, that’s how you know you have to keep going. Our gifts and passions make room for us and although the road isn’t always easy, if we were created for it, we’re built to see it through.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a wedding photographer based here in Oklahoma City. What I believe sets me a part from others is my client experience as well as the value I provide my clients with my investment into their journeys. I really involve myself on their way to “I Do” in hopes that they are able to be present with one another in their process and not have to stress about a lot of the to-do’s.
Hard work and building solid relationships are the main things that placed me where I am today. It hasn’t always been the easiest road. Learning how to run my business was a hard concept to grasp for a long time, but once I invested into getting a business coach, the game changed!
One of the biggest lessons that I learned is that if you’re made for it, you have everything within you to make it happen. Sometimes, in order to pull out those skills or see what you’re made of requires you investing monetarily into yourself and having someone else pull it out of you, but you’re worth it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The food spots are definitely expanding here in Oklahoma City. One of my favorite places to go is The Collective downtown. They have an assortment of restaurants with such delicious food! We would also catch an OKC Thunder game, check out the Riverwalk in Bricktown, and even go to Frontier City for an adventurous fun time!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I honestly feel like I have a whole village of people that I could pay homage to. From my family with their endless support in helping me raise my son but also allowing me the space to grow into the business woman that I am today. My best friend/business partner/soul sister, Ceanti, who has always been an inspiration and light in my life. And my business coach, Mecca, who has always seen the best in me and always pulled that greatness out of me. My sister friends, Ariel and Janee, who always reminded me who I am. And lastly, the best shoutout of all, my wonderful son, Cameron, who always sees a rockstar mom on my good and bad days and inspires me to be the best I can be.
