Meet Brad Malin | C0-founder of Companion CBD & Serial Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brad Malin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brad, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am a single parent with two teenaged daughters. I do it all for them and of course my two Goldendoodles!

I have raised my daughters to live by the “golden rule,” do onto others, as you want others to do onto you. This applies to so much in life. Be a good person, be accountable and say what you are going to do, also what I have instilled in my girls. I have always been self employed, so they understand my work ethic and the hustle is real. I am grateful they posses all these important qualities as a person.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Companion CBD is the only veterinarian owned CBD manufacturer and education company exclusively for pets. Yes, there are other companies in the space, but we do things significantly different. Such as… We are the manufacturer, that formulates and designs all products. We also pioneered nationally accredited continuing education programs for veterinary medicine. We have trained and educated over 35,000 veterinary professionals globally, about CBD in clinical practice. This was a huge accomplishment for us, as CBD is not currently regulated. We saw the need for education in veterinary medicine and pet parents a like. We have been educating the veterinary community and pet parents since 2018, and will continue to provide the real science and facts on cannabinoid medicine for pets.

We are most proud of being one of the first in the Pet CBD space. Again, creating the first continuing education programs for veterinary medicine, gave us the name brand recognition we have today. With so much mis-information and adulterated products for pets, education has always been priority one. We also have won five innovative products awards since 2018.. Bottom line is, we are providing safe, clinically effective CBD products, all backed by third party independent labs to ensure quality, safety, and efficacy. Knowing we are making a difference in pets lives daily is why we do, what we do!

I was born into an entreprenurial family. My father had his own business, so I saw what he did to provide for our family. My two brothers and I all have followed in his footsteps by being entrepreneurs. I believe I was born an entrepreneur and have stayed the course thus far. As a former athlete, I have always been competitive in all I do. This mindset is a must to keep pushing during the difficult times. Hard work always pays off.

My entrepreneurial journey over the last 25 years, hasn’t always been a glamorous one. I’ve hit some home-runs, but have “crashed and burned” as well. More failures than successes in the world of entrepreneurship is just that. However, it takes just one to be something really special and worth all the blood, sweat and tears. We do have something special with Companion CBD, and we are just getting started.

Just remember this… Regardless of your age, education level or experience, being an entrepreneur takes vision, grit and action. Anyone can be an entrepreneur if you have this. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it, as many will. Believe in you and only you! Welcome to the journey!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Scottsdale, AZ is paradise. So much to explore in this great state. Some of my favorites are: The Grand Canyon, Sedona and Flagstaff. Yes, I’m a hiker, skier and love the outdoors. Living in a resort town has much to offer, so you really can’t go wrong with The Fairmount Princess, The Phoenician, Royal Palms and The Sanctuary, are just a few of the top notch report here. Same with restaurants… Some of my favs are: Ocean Club, Richardsons, AZ88, Pure Sushi, Fresh Mint, Houstons, Pita Jungle and Cafe Rio.

Spring training and Spring Break, is a very busy time of the year here. So you see all kinds of people come from all over, to watch their teams play and vacation to enjoy the good life Scottsdale and the rest of AZ has to offer!

I personally am a pretty chill kind of guy and enjoy cooking and staying at my home. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy getting out, but I’m more of a home body at this phase of my life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate “my shoutout” to veterinarians, vet professionals and pet parents everywhere! Without the support and endorsement from everyone, we wouldn’t have a business. Since we are a veterinarian owned and run company, we partner with animals hospitals by educating them about the science and benefits of cannabinoid medicine, and by manufacturing award-winning products for their patients. Lastly, I must give a “shoutout” to my daughters, family and friends, that all have supported me in my entrepreneurial journey.
