We had the good fortune of connecting with Branden Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Branden, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing about being a Mobile DJ, Wedding DJ and Event DJ that outsiders may be unaware of are the true connections we make with our clients. Those of us that do our job properly really get to know our clients in the process of event planning. This makes the special day or event more personal, for me, and I give them my best. I Truly Celebrate with my Clients!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got my start as a DJ in the Rave scene in the late 90’s. I was a Promoter for AfterDark Productions, a Legal Rave production company, based in Houston, Tx. My first DJ gigs were at a venue called the Orbit Room in Downtown Houston. In addition to promoting events and getting my start as a DJ, I was supplying the events with MDMA and LSD. Consequently, I was busted with LSD three times by the age of 21.
My third arrest for was at Rave at The State Palace Theater in New Orleans, La. in 1999. I had to plead guilty to a 15 Flat-Year prison sentence in order to avoid a sentence of 60 to Life as a Third Offender. I was incarcerated in Louisiana for 14 years. I was allowed one year of good time at the end of my sentence because of legislative changes made for non-violent offenders who had been sentenced under the “Multiple Offender” statute. I was gone from December 1999 until December of 2013. Within two years of my release, I moved to Colorado and started Mobile Party Productions.
Suffice it to say that the particular years I spent away coincided with the exact time our world experienced an explosion of knowledge and technological progression. In December of 1999, Google was not yet known to the world and the iPod had not even been released yet! My work was definitely cut out for me as concerns staying abreast of the DJ tech that came and went during those crucial years. I devoured every musical equipment catalogue and copy of Rolling Stone magazine that I came across in order to stay informed during this unfortunate vacation.
However, it was being in multiple bands and running sound for the events held at the facility that truly gave me the experience requisite to run large scale events. While inside, I was responsible for building the setup, running sound and actually performing in productions done for over 300 people, per event. This was how I learned to do what I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my Best Friend were visiting soon I would have him visit from April 5th to April 12th, this year. Within that one week he would get to see my Goth Night at Ethos Pueblo and then the 10-Year Anniversary Show for Peacock Pole Art & Body Weight Fitness studio, based in Pueblo, Co. The creative community and vibe at Ethos Pueblo is a hidden Pueblo gem. And the ladies at Peacock Pole Art put on a show that will not be forgotten!
In addition, we would definitely have to take a trip to Denver for the Meow Wolf installation and visit The Black Box nightclub.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have to dedicate my Shoutout to the Urantia Book. This book changed the way I view the world and gave me all of the answers I was needing in life. It’s a book that explains the origins of our world and our universe. Cosmology, Philosophy, the History of our Earth and the True teachings of Christ are what the Urantia Book contains. This firm foundation, orientation and knowledge of self gave me the confidence to start Mobile Party Productions.
