We had the good fortune of connecting with Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan, why did you pursue a creative career?
You know, we both have done 9-5 jobs, and between the two of us ,one or another, we have worked jobs in the retail, food, and fashion business that has really shaped us to who we are today with the different skill sets that having many different jobs growing up provides you with in the future. I think for so long, we both were always working structured jobs, and day dreaming about what else we could be doing with our time right now and that’s where this big creative side to us, both in different and unique ways, came into place from a young adult age of around 20 years old blossomed from. You just can’t ignore the urge to create and dive into what you’re feeling. There has always been way more to us than feeling stuck in a job where you’re just standing all day, waiting on customers to come to you. We’re truly meant for so much more and listening to those instinctual feelings and leaning into them, allows us to pursue our creativity rather than being molded by someone else in a business that they created, not you. It’s very thrilling to be able to be a part of a vision that you created yourself. Reach for the stars, baby!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Cannabis Hangout Podcast is hosted by two best friends, Brannan Bell & Sabah Khan. We’ve been best friends since the 5th grade, which is rare and a major bff bond there! We host the #1 most listened to cannabis podcast and we have the pleasure of providing a platform for people to share. We interview medical marijuana patients, growers, industry leaders and brands making waves! We’re proud of our baby that we’ve organically built. We love connecting with other individuals and have a gift while doing so. It fills our cup to have people feel comfortable enough to open up to us, be vulnerable and okay with it, and share their passions, methods and ways that a beautiful and healing plant has touched so many lives and brought every single one of us together. We always aim to keep it raw and real and for our guests to come as they and just be themselves, while inspiring everyone that’s tuning into their episode.

You always have to hold the mindset of putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward creatively. It’s easy to get into creative ruts and getting out of them and knowing how to navigate that process, while surrendering to trusting the process is where the magic happens. It would be a fat lie to say it’s been easy, because anything you care about and pour your heart, soul and passion into isn’t easy and takes a lot of dedicated work to maintain and grow the vision you wish to forever leave a print with.

We’ve overcome any challenges we had run into with the support of our friends and people who care about us. It’s literally all about community. If you just keep going, you’re fueling your own fire whether you know it or not and it’s staying lit and it will not die.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When good things organically happen to you and it keeps flowing, you can thank your gratitude mindset that has aided in getting you so far. Staying grateful and continuously expressing that not only out loud to yourself, but to others around you really is creating that full circle energy. We have been extremely blessed by friends along the way that have believed in our vision from the start, whether that has been things we have been gifted, support in simply showing up, or being inspired from not only people in the Oklahoma cannabis community, but also all over the world. We stay inspired through peoples photos and brands on Instagram, the stories people share, the vast knowledge that blows our minds that people have.

The Oklahoma Cannabis community in general is very supportive and for that we’re grateful for the tight knit community that we’re surrounded by.

The people we have had the pleasure of having on The Cannabis Hangout Podcast and them sharing their stories is the main reason we’re even able to do what we do. Patients, growers, brands etc. are willing to break the stigma and share their experiences and expertise is who we really give recognition to. We wouldn’t be where we are without the passion and drive from other people we connect with.
