We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Waldron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always had my own business when it comes to my Djing. But my thought process on starting my book which is called “The Illustrated History Of Some Of Colorado’s Best Dj’s” was I had this idea that had never been done before and I wanted to create something that people would hold on to forever. Also do something that brings my industry together, no matter what crew or genre they play. I also wanted to do something that showcased everyone and their skills and talent throughout the state. Including exclusive pictures their bios and links to all their social media, links, websites, stores, merch, and their music sites along with their booking info. Which will also help the djs book gigs and other opportunities. All in a set of Volumes, All the artwork and layouts are done by me (Chris Waldron). I also have the full support of CO Dj Industry which is rare on a individual project. I’m doing this for all of us Dj’s and securing our place in history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Worldwide best selling artist on Bandcamp, with usually 20 or more albums on the Worldwide best selling charts top 60 in the Mash up Category since April of last year when I was featured on “Radio 1” in the U.K. my numbers have continued to climb daily with around 70,000 plays per month and almost at a million total plays. I create original mash ups and remixes and sell them Worldwide, with over 1,215 albums out.

I also had a love for art since I was young, Drawing was second nature to me, and I was self taught on Adobe Photoshop by watching Youtube and have done graphics for merch and album covers, also through the years I have created 1,000’s of flyers for clubs and events. At one time I was also a art teacher for the Boys & Girls Club. Art and creativity has been a huge part of my life.

I am known for my unique style of mixing all genres and eras and creating original mash ups and remixes that are known Worldwide. I am also member of “The Blend Twinz” which is me, Dj Chris Diablo and Dj Gravity on 4 tables mashing instrumentals and acapellas in to something unforgettable. Also I’m known for my art which has been featured on flyers for years, Also on merch for multiple projects. but now I’m trying something new and it really blows my mind that it has not been done before. Creating this collection of books is the new chapter in my life, I wanted to take all my skills and talents and combine them on something unlike anything else. and as the idea manifested in my mind. I wanted to do something that would bring my industry together at the same time paying tribute and showing respect to those who helped create the “Colorado scene or Colorado’s music landscape”, from all corners of our industry. Showcasing the top Dj’s in Clubs, Events, Radio, EDM , Industry Events, Pro Sports Teams, City Events, Festivals, DMC Championships and battle dj’s from across the state and create a work of art people would want to keep forever. and Dj’s could be proud of and something that could be passed down. Also recognize all my peers that have put in the work, carried them records and equipment, the first ones in and the last ones out and those who have progressed through the years. and have made their mark on Colorado’s Dj Scene and industry. But I also wanted to come at in a unique, interesting, artistic, creative and fun way while reflecting on Colorado’s music and dj culture. This being my first books I have learned that printing is my only challenge. I’m trying to show people and organizations what I’m doing and I’m hoping I can get enough people who believe in me and in the project and in the arts to donate to this amazing collection of the states top dj’s all illustrated and a look and listen in to each of their life’s and careers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from Colorado Springs – So my week long adventure would be Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Cripple Creek or Blackhawk for a little gambling, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, show them the Air Force Academy to see a game, Leech Pit Records, Earth Pig, Entertainmart has good records, What’s Left Records, tell them about the late great Independent Records, and Tunes Record Store, also would have to take them up to Manitou Springs to the Penny Arcade which has been there forever, also check out Bishop’s Castle its not in the Springs but close enough, take them up to Gold Camp Road which has a tunnel blasted through the mountain and a gorgeous view of the city, then Downtown to check out the clubs and the many great dj’s we have in our city then to Ford Amphitheater for a concert or at The World Arena, also we have Territory Days, SpringSpree, and a lot of trails for hiking we are right at the base of the mountains, and speaking of we have some of the most intense sunrises and sunsets with the mountains lining the background-

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout Colorado’s Dj Industry and all Colorado Dj’s Statewide – The support and response I’ve received since I started the Book has been overwhelming. I don’t think anything else could have brought us all closer together then this book. And I would not be able to do this without everyone else.
