We had the good fortune of connecting with Brea Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brea, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I feel like giving up is not an option, if it’s something you are passionate about, it makes you happy, and you don’t go one day without thinking about it. That shows you should keep going. I feel like chasing a dream or achieving a goal can get hard and feel defeating, specially when it feels like you’re not getting the outcome you imagined right away, but it takes time, it’s a process. You should love what you’re doing while on the journey and not pressure yourself. Tell yourself your doing great, you will achieve your goal/make your dreams come true, and you will keep fighting and not give up!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say modeling is my art, it’s something that has always intrigued me since a young age. I always loved the art of modeling, to me it is more than just a pretty face, you can tell a story with one photoshoot, and if you know me you know I love to tell stories lol. I feel modeling in a way has allowed me to incorporate acting with a picture. For example if the photoshoot is a 70’s aesthetic shoot, I get into character, I become a woman from the 70’s with a story. It’s the coolest thing! I feel like models/modeling is not given enough credit, its not the easiest thing and I have learned how hard it can be in many ways, as to being able to get the right face as you pose a certain way, your self-esteem can be messed with on so many levels, you truly have to love yourself and know there’s only one you regardless of all the no’s and downs you face. For me, I already am not the typical model as far as height, to most I am way to short to model. Im 5’6 and I believe the modeling world should showcase all women of all heights. That one big reason I was excited to get into this world. is I wanted to showcase that I can model, walk a run way ect just as well as someone who is 5’10. Show girls, boys, women, men around the world that you don’t have to fit into the “norms” step outside of it and show your greatness! Beginning to model was something that was not easy for me at all, I my confidence was low and I would see how models look and always tell myself “well you don’t look like that” so I never tried. But when I did finally take that leap and put myself out there I started to see my cause and what I wanted to showcase, I had to stop comparing myself all the time to the next big thing or the most popular model. Just be me and show my story. I learned along the way that people believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. I have to show the world what I have to offer and keep working for it, even though I am not where I want to be I know I will be soon enough. I want the world to know that I am not your average model, I am not 5’10 but I have a lot to show and tell, I want girls and boys to see how a normal girl who doesn’t fit into the norms can make it than so can you. I want so show everyone to love themselves, love each other, and just be 100% authentically you!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When it comes to Denver, you can find a lot of the same food places in other states as well so I would focus more on places to go where of course we will run into a array of food places, like downtown Denver would be a must, where it is more the “busy life” that will give you authentic food options, which I would let them pick what they want, lol I am terrible at making food choices! I would make sure we hit the night scene, show them Market street, where of course many of our most popular bars are, Tavern, View House, Lodo ect. I would end the trip with the most amazing part of Colorado in which we would definitely make a few trips to are the mountains! I would for sure show them the Rocky Mountains, Rocky Mountain National park, Estes Park where I would take them to the famous Stanley hotel! The trip with me would for-sure be spontaneous and random but Ill make sure to make sure its exciting!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In this journey I have been on which seems like a lifetime lol there has been so many people in my corner, family, and friends. My mom of course is always an inspiration to me and helps me keep going in just every day life and my cousin Reanne, who started this journey with me. She has seen the good, the bad, the fun, and the sad of this all. She always believed in me so much and showed me that I do have what it takes to accomplish my goal].
