We had the good fortune of connecting with Brennah Rosenthal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brennah, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The best decision I made for my business was to become part of a shared workspace with 5 other creatives (2 photographers, 2 DP’s and one creative director.) Even in a time where most people are working from home all of these people work as my team, sounding board and main network for all of the work I do and I don’t know what I’d do without them.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Great Escape Media focuses on creative content strategy and production. What sets us apart from other companies is that we help brands and companies tell their stories through images and video in a strategic way that works for online advertising. I am super proud at how I’ve gone from tiny no-name clients to working with brands like The North Face, New Belgium, Marriott and more. I got where I am today majorly through networking and making connections in my industry. It is definitely time consuming, but I hardly say no to a single meeting. It’s always a chance to meet another person and expand your network which for me has lead to the majority of my work. I’ve learned to only work on projects that I am passionate about vs the ones that just make me money.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think someone visiting always warrants a little road trip. I would start the trip off with a meal at Safta in Denver and the next morning we would head to the mountains to camp for the night and for a hike the next morning. Ideally we would head to Crested Butte to camp and hike and spend the evenings eating a meal at the Sunflower or at Secret Stash pizza.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh man, there’s maybe too many to name here. Everyone who encourage me to go out on my own and continues to support me as I do deserves a shout-out. One of my favorite books that really helped me make the leap to self-employment was “You are a Badass. How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life.” By, Jen Sincero Currently on a weekly basis, I attend a group writing meet-up called Mindful Mornings which has been extremely important to keeping me sane.
