Meet Bria Henson Valdez | Event and Holiday Designer & Party Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bria Henson Valdez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bria, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in the Dallas metro area. After earning my degree in music in East Texas, I moved to Colorado, where I met my husband—and I’ve now called it home for the past 20 years.
Growing up in Texas, everything was big, bold, and full of personality. Celebrations were no exception. In my family, every milestone—no matter how big or small—turned into a reason to gather, decorate, and make memories. Hosting was seen as an art form and a way to showcase creativity and personal flair.
We didn’t always have a big budget, but that never stopped us from making things feel special. In fact, that challenge sparked my creativity and pushed me to get resourceful. It’s where I first learned the beauty of being both imaginative and intentional—skills that shape the way I plan events to this day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business began about 15 years ago as a holiday design service. I loved transforming spaces for the season—bringing joy through lights, decor, and thoughtful details. That passion for creating beautiful environments naturally evolved into event planning and design. Over time, what started as seasonal styling turned into full-blown celebrations.
In 2020, during the pandemic, I stumbled upon a new creative outlet that completely captivated me: balloon design. I was seeing these stunning, sculptural balloon installations popping up, and I was instantly inspired. With events paused, I poured my energy into learning everything I could about the craft. I spent hours each day researching, watching tutorials, and practicing in my garage. Eventually, I flew to California to train in person with a mentor I admired, and I’ve continued investing in classes and workshops ever since. I made it my goal to become the best balloon artist I could personally be.
I started taking on projects for friends and new clients while still working a full-time job. Each event was a chance to learn, to grow, and to refine my creative voice. I made plenty of mistakes, but each one taught me something valuable. Over the years, I’ve learned that excellence doesn’t come from shortcuts—it comes from showing up consistently, staying curious, and never being afraid to try something new.
What sets my business apart is my deep passion for creating custom, memorable experiences. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter designs. Every event, every balloon installation, every detail is carefully crafted to reflect the personality and vision of the client. I care deeply about the little things—those thoughtful touches that make a moment unforgettable.
What I want the world to know about my brand is this: I’m here to celebrate life’s big and small moments with intention and creativity. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been built on passion, persistence, and a love for making people feel seen, celebrated, and surrounded by beauty.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is such a treasure—there’s no shortage of beautiful sights, great food, and unique places to explore. If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d plan a mix of city fun, mountain adventures, and a few of my favorite hidden gems.
We’d kick things off downtown with a visit to The Dairy Block and Union Station—both full of energy, amazing food, and unique shops. It’s the perfect way to get a feel for the vibe of Denver and soak up some local flavor.
Next, we’d spend a day in Cherry Creek North, where we’d wander the summer markets, browse the boutique shops, and grab a delicious bite at La Colonia (a personal favorite!).
A Colorado visit isn’t complete without some mountain magic, so we’d plan a full day in Breckenridge. We’d stroll down Main Street, stop into Lace and Lariat to make our own custom hats (such a fun experience!), and eat at Giampietro’s—their calzones are legendary. We’d definitely pop into Marigolds, a quirky little shop that’s too fun to skip. Of course, we’d carve out time for some scenic trail walks to take in the fresh air and breathtaking views.
We’d also head north to Estes Park and explore the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountain National Park—a true Colorado must-see. It’s peaceful, wild, and unbelievably beautiful. While in town, we’d tour the historic Stanley Hotel for a little ghostly fun and Colorado lore.
Closer to home, I’d take them to explore Parker, where I live, and then down to Castle Rock. Both towns are full of small-town charm, local boutiques, and cozy coffee spots—like Oodelally Coffee, which is always worth the stop.
Overall, the goal would be to soak in the best of Colorado: the natural beauty, creative culture, and warm community that makes this place so special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Through the years, I’ve been deeply inspired by what I like to call my favorite “3 M’s”:
Martha, Mindy, and Mariah.
Martha Stewart has always been the queen of all things DIY and entertaining. I consider myself her number one student! Her career, work ethic, and timeless style have set the gold standard for creativity and hospitality. She’s truly a master of her craft, and her ability to merge elegance with approachability constantly inspires me.
Mindy Weiss is the ultimate icon when it comes to event planning and design. Her attention to detail, creativity, and ability to craft unforgettable guest experiences are what I aspire to emulate. From dreamy weddings to milestone celebrations, she creates magic every time. Her work pushes me to think bigger and be bolder in my own designs.
Mariah Carey is my forever hype girl. I’ve been her number one fan since I was 10 years old, and her music is still my go-to when I need a boost or a moment of inspiration. Beyond her voice, she’s a creative genius—an incredible songwriter with a unique artistic process. Her MasterClass on songwriting blew me away. I admire how she channels emotion into art and always shows up with confidence and sparkle.
And beyond my “3 M’s,” I have to give heartfelt thanks to the mentors and friends back in Texas who gave me my start. Volunteering on their creative teams was where I really learned the ropes. I watched them dream big, take bold risks, and execute visionary designs with excellence. They shaped not just my skills, but also my mindset—and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
