We had the good fortune of connecting with Briana Borten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Briana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is essential for achieving success in business. You have to be willing to do what others won’t and follow through relentlessly.

Risk-taking has profoundly shaped my life. The rewards are incredible, and the lessons are invaluable. No matter the outcome, I always feel like I’m winning because I’m growing—and that’s my true purpose.

It takes courage to take risks, but I think having faith that it’s the experience that matters more than anything, makes it easier.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started The Dragontree when I had just turned 23 and I’m so proud of the ways it’s transformed and grown over the years and so thankful for how it’s evolved me as a person. Our business has impacted tens of thousands of people creating more peaceful humans in numerous ways, and that leads to a more peaceful world which is our mission.

We got to where we are because we’ve really listened to our clients, we’ve pivoted when we’ve needed to, and we’ve leaned into what is needed right now.

It’s not been easy – there have been challenges that have brought me to my knees again and again, and they don’t stop. I honestly stopped hoping to have it be easy, and now just work to strengthen my resilience and improve my vision and attitude.

I’ve learned so much in this process – how to love unconditionally feels like the biggest one. When clients and staff have all their “stuff” and it all gets up in the mix – how do I love through it? How do I stay devoted to my vision? How do I remember to hold them as sacred (even when they’re being challenging)? It really is the greatest work of my life.

We, as a company, are so committed to the healing work we do and that creates a ripple into the world of more peace and balance. I truly believe that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would for sure take friends to the mountains to hike and swim and play and then come downtown to The Dragontree Sanctuary (of course) to cold plunge and sauna and then we’d go out to dinner at Corrida and walk around downtown. The next days we’d spend visiting cute little shops, drinking coffee, playing in the river and having delicious food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My teacher Matt Garrigan who really taught me to question my thoughts and honor my commitments.
