We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaquelyn Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaquelyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I began feeling into starting my own business, I wanted to do what came naturally for me. I had been a yoga instructor for many years and wanted something that came through me in that way- something I didn’t have to plan for or study. So often people focus on what makes money or what other people do for work. I was falling into that narrow way of thinking when I realized that most likely, we are all here on this planet in this lifetime to do and share what we brought here as our gifts. For me, that was organization (with a sprinkle of psychology and sales)! I wanted to help people let go, I wanted to help them get clear, and most of all, I wanted to facilitate the flow of energy in and around them.

What should our readers know about your business?
I help people let go of things, tangible and non. When I started Creating Space Colorado in 2018 I was helping people organize spaces in their homes. I quickly realized that it was closely tied to my yoga teaching (since 2012) and practice “Aparigraha”, or non-hoarding. I also began to bring in my sales experience along with my background in Psychology, and help people let go on many different levels. Some were best aided with new systems in their spaces, some with coaching calls to get them through life’s transitions, and some we’re just ready to move on and needed help selling everything they owned so they could do so. No matter the client or situation, I meet them where they are and move from there (kind of like yoga). Creating Space is now an all-encompassing bubble that includes organizing, coaching, home liquidation/consignment sales, move logistics, yoga retreats, and our newest business baby Sol Studio Space; yoga studio in downtown Evergreen, CO.

The unfolding over the past decade has been all about leaning into what feels like the next meant step. Always manifesting and being fully intentional about what we’re doing and what’s next. My hope is that someday everyone will have access to this type of business and services. Moving, transitions, change, are not easy but they are a necessary and inevitable part of life. Practice is key. Support through them is paramount and I treasure being that person for so many of my fellow humans.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m mostly a homebody so I don’t usually go out at night or attend highly populated events… That being said, I do love to bop around my town and see the people that I know and love. If my best friend came to town I would take her to The Bread Lounge for some chocolate sourdough and an oat milk latte. We would hang out at Evergreen Lake and probably catch a yoga class at Sol Studio or True Yoga. My favorite part of living in this mountain town is definitely the people I run into everyday as I make my way around town so, I’d love to introduce them to my best friend and have her feel first hand, the community that I’ve been growing here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I’m at in the holding on and letting go practice without the book “The Untethered Soul” by Michael Singer. He also has some great lectures as well. Becoming unattached to outcomes and becoming less reactive has saved me so much energy that I can then apply elsewhere (like creation). Allowing myself and others to be where they are at and meeting them and myself there, is a priceless tool.
