We had the good fortune of connecting with Brit Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brit, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is no simple task. It feels like you have to go against every fiber of your being when taking risks. I think we tend to associate risk with loss, when in fact I think it can be the opposite. I think having a sense of “loss” when taking risks stems from a fear based response. It’s scary to take the leap but falling is the easy part. Once you let go and stop getting in your way, amazing things can happen. I think we take risks every day but we tend to measure them differently based on our comfort levels. Once you get out of your comfort zone, you can be anyone or anything you want to be and that’s when the reincarnation self happens.

I learned early on that I can’t and won’t make a decision based out of fear, but rather from a place of love. I’ve always been a believer that you’re already failing if you’re not trying. It can be scary and vulnerable when you are entering into something new and feeling like you have no idea what you’re doing. I think if I didn’t lean into the idea that risks are good and a way for me to learn and grow then I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today. I have gained so much knowledge, confidence, and a sense of self by taking the leaps of faith into the unknown.

What should our readers know about your business?
I find Real Estate interesting, because people often tend to have a lot of negative feelings associated with Realtors. I find this to be a real bummer. I’m not sure where it stems from, but I can feel it sometimes when talking to people about what I do. I want to change the way people think about Realtors and help educate them on the potential options they have. I genuinely care about the well being of my clients and want them to feel empowered to make the best decision for themselves. Knowledge is power and I have gained so much through my experiences as an entrepreneur.

I got to where I am today through a lot of trial and error. I believe if you really want something you have to go out and get it, but a lot of times that comes with not knowing how. Not knowing how is okay, because knowing the why is the most important. You need to know why you’re doing something, and “the how” will naturally come. I learned once you start focusing on what you want, the universe will put people and things into place to help guide you on your path. I feel cheesy saying that out loud, but I swear it’s like magic. I will admit, there are definitely times when the people that are placed on your path won’t always work out. I experienced this through my pursuits in finding a mentor in both real estate and photography. Those experiences showed me the type of people I want on my team and in my life. Sometimes you have to experience a little of the bad to know when you have the good. I’m not bashing on mentors by any means, they are very important and you want them in your life. I had to do a lot of my own research through youtubing and googeling questions that I didn’t have the answers to (thank god for the internet), which would take a lot of my time. It’s so much easier to have someone who has the experience and knowledge in the field you’re interested in. Having a mentor is a huge advantage because you can ask them the questions as you progress in your craft.

Nothing comes easy and some things come naturally. It took me a long time to realize this and lean into the gifts and talents that I have. I’m a believer in having intention in what you do and I think when you decide what it is you want and what you’re good at, it will always take a little self exploration. I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people and providing an act of service. This is probably why I was in the service industry for so long. I feel that I’m providing a service through real estate by helping people create financial wealth and investments. I’m from the millennial generation and I feel like we have been dealt a bad hand for a very long time. It’s an intention of mine to help my generation gain the upper hand and level the playing field through real estate. There are so many options and programs out there that many people have no idea about. That’s what excites me about what I do.

I have learned so many valuable things along my path that have been good and bad, but here are my big takeaways. Celebrate your wins no matter how small. Believe in yourself and know that if it feels hard now, it will get easier – you’re experiencing growing pains. Setbacks happen, don’t be hard on yourself and if you’re asking yourself why is this happening to me? Reframe it as what can I learn from this? What you focus on expands. Don’t hesitate to reach out to people who are doing what you want to do – ask them for help or if they know someone who can. You are loved, supported, and you really can do anything you set your mind to, but don’t forget to listen to your heart.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably start in Steamboat Springs and go on a couple hikes, see the town, and of course go to Strawberry Hot Springs. When we would get back to Denver, I would take them to South Broadway to shop at Goldmine Vintage, hang at Sputniks, see a movie at the Mayan, and end the night at the Skylark. I would also take them to the MCA for some art and drink on the rooftop. After that I would have dinner at Hop Alley and have a few drinks Ratio and Finn’s Manor to end the night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All my friends, family, partner, and the Denver community. A few books, You are a badass by Jen Sincero and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown.
