We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittanie Fehn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittanie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business because I was authentically bringing in revenue from friends and family who needed photography services who were then referring us to their friends and family. It made sense to make our business official with new branding together and we’ve continued to find new ways to expand with trade shows and creative marketing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fehn Foto is the name of our company. We are a husband and wife team that provides family, wedding, senior portrait, and engagement photography services. We tag team most, not all but most, jobs together to ensure things go smoothly. We continue to get to where we want to be professionally by continuing to both work full time jobs to fund the business and our lives until we can be full time artists. The more blood, sweat, and tears you put into something, the more it will grow but it does not come easy. It’s hard work that gets you there. I always like to think about the movie, Field of Dreams, and constantly tell myself “if you build it, they will come.” And, this is what we continue to strive for! Growth. As long as we are growing each year, we consider that successful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Acreage Lafayette as a lovely brewery in our area with a view, good food, and drink! We would also probably take our company on a hike in Boulder and obviously gift them with photo memories!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I shout out my husband, Austin. He is a graphic designer and co-business owner. He encourages me daily to continue growing and using my talent to give the gift of moments and memories that can be treasured for a lifetime. He has given me the boost of confidence, the encouragement, and the technical support I needed to feel grounded in my abilities to spread my wings. I owe so much thanks to him for making it possible to continue growing.
