We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what do you attribute your success to?
Family Holiday Promise is a 100% volunteer and donation driven organization. We would be nothing without our amazing donors and volunteers. Giving their time, money, Expertise and passion in order to support families in need in our community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Family Holiday Promise is a nonprofit organization that shares the promise of the holidays with families in need across Colorado. What makes us unique is our model of working with partner organizations taking the weight of the holidays off of not only the families they serve but also their staff as well allowing them to focus on their core mission. This year was our first year holding a independent holiday event in addition to our partner organization events, and we were able to serve nearly 1000 kids this Easter. In addition to our rapidly growing numbers we also decided to bring in two new holidays this year in addition to our standard 4 ( Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter) This May we distributed our first mother’s day items and were able to serve 150 moms. We are also planning to conduct our first Father’s Day event and serve 200 dads this June.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a Colorado native there are so many amazing places across the state that I would love to share with a friend who’s visiting. But since moving to Northern Colorado and more specifically windsor I would definitely want to share my stomping grounds. Beginning with a blueberry lavender white mocha at Windsor lake coffee and a stroll around town and a Paddleboard ride around the beach. Followed by some amazing pizza from hearth and a glass of wine on their patio. Our family is big into the outdoors so the rest of the week would probably consist of hiking in Rocky Mountain, biking in Summit County, a sailboat ride on Lake Dillon and a teeth chattering ride down Copper Mountain. Plus of course a few brewery stops along the way!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Family Holiday Promise wouldn’t exist without the support, mentorship and encouragement given to me by my family. My mother Sallie Burnett was pivotal in the beginning phases of the organization and The mentorship and advice I have received from my dad David Burnett who has sat on boards Of numerous nonprofits over the last 25 years was irreplaceable. Not to mention the incredible patience of my husband who is always my champion even when our entire driveway was filled with Easter baskets has been essential in these begging years especially since the pandemic began last March.
