We had the good fortune of connecting with Brook Adsit and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brook, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is more experience-driven than a stopping point or a certain benchmark. I picture a building that involves all my favorite things: a coffee shop, clothing boutique, and a salon. It will be bright, filled with plants and natural light complimented by warm tones to make people feel invited, welcomed, and inspired. I would lease out the coffee shop and boutique, while all the stylists in the salon would be renting their chairs. The businesses in the building might change as I want to keep things evolving and fluid. However, the main goal would be for it to be a place/ experience for like-minded entrepreneurs to thrive while surrounded by other business owners.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a hair stylist that specializes in modern bohemian hairstyling. I believe that some of the key foundations to what makes up a modern bohemian hairstyle is polished texture, a natural & effortless look, intricate detail, dimensional color, loose twists and braids, voluminous & thick hair, wispy face framing. I want my clients to choose which of those components best suits their own unique style and together we can create their dream hair for whatever occasion they need.

I am really excited about the direction my business is headed this upcoming year. I am launching a hair accessory line to partner with my love for hairstyling! I want to provide my clients with pieces they won’t find elsewhere to level up their style. I also am hiring independent contractors to be able to reach more brides for this busy upcoming season.

I really want my brand to represent that of a bohemian lifestyle, which I believe is loving to express yourself authentically. With that, it is important that people who work with us are surrounded by high vibrations of happiness and gratitude for this life. Being in the beauty industry, I really want to be an inspiration for people to fall in love with exactly who they are and to practice wonderful self care. We don’t believe in completely changing your look, but rather, elevating your natural beauty to give you a space to truly enjoy taking care of yourself all while feeling your best!

Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. I did not grow up in an entrepreneurial family nor did I attend college. I have spent countless hours researching and learning from others with lots of trial and error on my part and by surrounding myself in an amazing community. The best way I overcome any challenge that comes my way is to simply ask myself – what will make me happiest? As a natural people pleaser, I found myself going down different directions to please others which ultimately led me to burn my passion out, which no one benefited from. As a business owner I think it is not only okay, but it is important to be selfish in asking yourself – what will bring me the most joy? And with that mindset, I have attracted more like-minded people than I ever have before and truly found an amazing community that supports me and wants me to thrive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a huge coffee addict and foodie as are many of my friends. Coffee shops / restaurants pretty much dictate where the main focus of our trip would be with fun things to do scheduled around it. Downtown Colorado Springs- an ideal day would start at Loyal Coffee, followed by shopping and walking through the fun shops. I love the clothing and accessories at the Local Honey. I also love the book section inside of Terra Verde. I would then probably head to Homa (inside of Kinship Landing) for a fun drink, to play some board games, and grab a bite to eat. Coati is my favorite place to end the night as they have something different restaurants where everyone can find something to eat . If it was for a week-long trip, I would definitely take off to the mountains and my top favorite places: Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, Buena Vista, and Breckenridge. Best food is at Simple Eatery on Main Street in BV! In Breckenridge, I love Mi Casa for food and Unravel for coffee.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have spent several years trying to find my place in the hair industry. I tried many different paths with a lot of dead-ends which ended in tears and frustration wondering if I would ever love my job. No matter how many times I would try something new and know it was not right for me though, my husband, family and friends supported me. Constant support from them, lots of self-reflection to figure out what it was that I did and did not enjoy, and never giving up helped me get to the place I am today. The book High Performance Habits taught me so much about how to get the most out of my life. Personal development books and podcasts have really been the backbone of getting me in the right mindset to grow and explore what inspires me to keep moving forward in directions that bring me the most happiness. I would like to dedicated the book “HIGH PERFORMANCE HABITS”, by Brendon Burchard, as well as the support from my husband and family for helping me get to where I am today.
