Meet Cameron Rees | The Adventurist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Rees and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cameron, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success was the way I was raised. I was born in Boise, Idaho and grew up in a low income family with not much just handed to me. I grew up understanding that you have to work hard to get what you want, and that is exactly what I did. Ever since I was a kid, I always used inspiration as my guidance to the next step in my life. Come high school I was on the varsity basketball team by the mid-way point of my sophomore year and I watched the hard work pay off right in front of my eyes. Ever since then I’ve always put 100% into everything I do. Which lead to me eventually buying my first camera in 2020 and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been a hard worker. Needless to say, I’m probably one of the best workers any employer could hire. I’m not in it for just the money, I also want to see whatever business I’m working in flourish in the best ways possible. But I don’t only work basic jobs, I’m also a basketball coach for 7th/8th Boys and Girls middle school teams. Part of my character is seeing others at their best too. Whether it’s on the court or off the court, you and the people around you deserve to be the best they can be. Helping younger kids grow and develop a love for something whether it’s sports or a career is what truly makes me happy. I always had older mentors growing up that would do that for me as well. I grew up in the LDS church and was baptized as a Mormon at a young age. At which point I was able to join Boy Scouts and learn very important core life lessons at a young age. It’s hard to teach anyone about life and what to expect because everyone is different, but you can always help point them in the right direction.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, personally I love the outdoors. So my first instinct is to take them and pack up the car with camping gear and get to the mountains as fast as I can. But, as far as the city, I would want to show them some of the best entertainment that the city has to offer. Whether it’s catching a sunset Rockies game, or going to a very lively restaurant/bar with live music so they can really get a true feel for how life is out here. Personally, I love the Mexican cuisine that the city of Denver has to offer. Everything from food trucks to sit down restaurants, it’s hard to pick a place to eat because there are so many good options!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few shoutouts to give regarding the success including my really good friends Fedel A.K.A. 6Foot Apparel and Ryan A.K.A RSIN. Fedel already had a clothing brand going and he sat me down and inspired me to become my own creative and we have worked together all over the United States ever since. Ryan gave me my first opportunity as a photographer to come and shoot behind the scenes of a music video he was working on in South Florida and since then we have done 50+ shows together all over the state of Florida. I have had a few mentors a long the way that deserve an shoutout as well, Dwayne A.K.A. DwayneShotIt, Benz47, Billy Winfield and Daniel A.K.A. Suburbantrapgod. Even once I moved to Colorado we all still work together constantly and are always looking for the next best opportunity.
Also my girlfriend of 9.5 years, Sammy, has been one of the most constant supporters in my life. She’s always there to help pick me up when I’m down and she’s a blessing straight from god.
I also can’t forget my family, who has always been pushing me to do better and be better. They have been unbelievably supportive in my journey into becoming the photographer that I am today. I am forever in their debt for that.
